Today marks the official opening of the celebration through the ribbon-cutting ceremony of 𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐍 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭, a showcase of visual narratives captured by talented student photographers from the BS Development Communication Program. More than an exhibit, 𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐍 stands as a reflection of stories, identities, communities, and moments transformed into meaningful visual communication.

This opening symbolizes not only the start of the exhibit but also the beginning of two days dedicated to creativity, learning, collaboration, and reimagining possibilities through communication.

These platforms reflect the students’ growth not only as communicators, but as storytellers, researchers, creatives, and development advocates committed to using media and communication for social transformation.

A proud moment for the Bachelor of Science in Development Communication students of NMSCST as 𝐈𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐀. 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐧 earned the 2𝓷𝓭 𝓑𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓟𝓪𝓹𝓮𝓻 𝓟𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓯𝓸𝓻 𝓢𝓶𝓪𝓻𝓽 𝓔𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓸𝓶𝔂 (𝓑𝓾𝓼𝓲𝓷𝓮𝓼𝓼 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓔𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓸𝓶𝓲𝓬𝓼) during the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 (𝐢𝐒𝐑𝐂 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔) hosted by Jose Rizal Memorial State University - Main Campus on May 6–7, 2026. ✨

Held under the theme, “Synergizing Transformative Innovation in the Age of AI,” the international congress gathered more than 200 paper presenters from various institutions and countries, highlighting innovative and socially relevant research across disciplines.

Irich received the recognition for her study titled:

“Federalism in the Minds of the Youth: A Quantitative Assessment of Student Awareness in the Philippines”

These studies were developed as final outputs for DC 124 – Communication Research 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 of their research instructor and faculty coach, Mx Gee Besto, whose dedication continues to empower young development communication students to excel in research and academic engagement beyond the classroom.

The BS Development Communication family, headed by 𝐃𝐫. Felimon Bonita Blanco, also extends its heartfelt gratitude to 𝐃𝐫. Reynaldo E. Manuel Jr., 𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐎 𝐕, the College President of Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology, for his unwavering support in advancing student research and academic excellence; to the NMSC Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Services and NMSC Office of Student Affairs and Services, for fostering opportunities for student development and scholarly participation; and to the Nmscst - Research, Innovation, Development, and Extension Office for continuously supporting research initiatives that allow young researchers to thrive on national and international platforms.

On April 28, 2026, BS Development Communication and BS Animation and Multimedia Arts students of NMSCST actively engaged in community immersion and story gathering with Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and their organizations (ARBOs) in Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental, as part of the Department of Agrarian Reform Central and Regional Film Festival (DARCRFF) 2026, titled Pelikulagraryo 2026.

Guided and supported by Ma’am Sharon Bazar, Ma’am Lee Christine Capuyan, and the DAR Misamis Occidental team, this field experience highlights the power of participatory communication in amplifying grassroots voices and lived realities.

More than documentation, this initiative reflects a commitment to ethical storytelling, meaningful collaboration, and development grounded in community narratives.

Because real stories create real impact—and every voice matters.

Dr. Felimon Bonita Blanco, Program Head of BS Development Communication, together with Mx Gee Besto, faculty member, conducted a benchmarking visit at the University of Makati’s Multimedia Arts Department—an initiative rooted in innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence last April 28, 2026.

This meaningful engagement reflects a shared commitment to elevating the BS Development Communication program through industry-aligned practices, enhanced learning environments, and forward-thinking strategies.

Because growth is not accidental—it is intentional, collaborative, and continuously pursued.
