GSP Week Celebration 2026
Simeon R Bendaรฑa Sr. Memorial Elementary School
September 20, 2026
Today, as we celebrate ESCODA DAY, we remember and honor the life, courage, and legacy of a remarkable Filipino womanโJosefa Llanes Escoda, the founder of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines.
Josefa Llanes Escoda was a woman who devoted her life to education, service, leadership, and the empowerment of women and children. She believed that girls could become responsible and capable leaders who would contribute meaningfully to their families, communities, and country.
Through her dedication and vision, the Girl Scouts movement in the Philippines became an avenue for young girls to develop character, confidence, discipline, compassion, and a spirit of service. Her work continues to inspire generations of Girl Scouts to live by the values of helping others and becoming responsible citizens.
Josefa Llanes Escoda also showed extraordinary courage during one of the most difficult periods in our country's history. She continued to serve others despite danger and hardship. Her life reminds us that genuine leadership means having the courage to stand for what is right and the compassion to help those in need.
Simeon R. Bendana Sr. Memorial Elementary School, honors her memory by continuing the values she exemplified. Every Girl Scout who lends a helping hand, shows kindness, protects the environment, respects others, and serves the community helps keep her legacy alive.
On this special day, let us not only remember Josefa Llanes Escoda, but also live the values she stood for.
May her courage inspire us to be brave.
May her compassion inspire us to serve.
May her dedication inspire us to persevere.
And may her legacy inspire every Girl Scout to become a responsible and caring leader.
As we celebrate GSP Week 2026 with the theme:
โLead On: Girl Scouts Carrying Our Legacy, Leading the Future,โ
let us carry the spirit of Josefa Llanes Escoda in our hearts and continue her mission of developing girls who are prepared to serve, lead, and make a positive difference in the world.
Today, we remember. Today, we honor. And today, we continue her legacy.
