MATHletes Masters wins Provincials!

MATHletes pioneer officers and members secured championship titles in the recent IECEP Math Olympiad and Interscholastic Quiz Show.

𝗜𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗣-𝗧𝗨𝗣𝗩 𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗹𝘁𝘀

Sweeping the competition floor with commanding leads, the Technological University of the Philippines Visayas - Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (TUPV-IECEP) took home championship titles in the Provincial Math Olympiad and Provincial Inter Scholastic Quiz Show held at the university gymnasium, May 3.

The Quiz Show team racked up an unmatched 200 points, securing a landslide victory over the University of St. La Salle (USLS) with 75 points and Fellowship Baptist College - Kabankalan (FBC-K) with 25 points, composed of Jhavhe Arangorin, Ivy Mae Mahinay, Florence James Meneses, Emmanuel Bedayo, Harley John Gelvoleo, and Audrey Garcia, under Engr. May Ricciel Benitez as their coach.

"It was overwhelming joy [...] and relief," Mahinay shared. "Finally, our hard work and late nights had paid off."

Meanwhile, the Math Olympiad team dominated the competition with 110 points, outperforming competing schools, with USLS placing second with 60 points and Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) taking third with 50 points, through the efforts of Kate Therese Nobleza, Ezekiel Katindig, and Kent Matthew Amit, with Myre John Candelario and Mark Joseph Ticao stepping in as reserves, all under the guidance of Engr. Jovanie Española.

"It’s very fulfilling to see them grow as individuals. Winning the competition is just a bonus. I always remind them nga ang learning amo gid ang aton primary goal kag hindi lang ang award," said Engr. Española.

While the teams are preparing for the national stage, with the exact date and venue still to be announced, they expressed their gratitude to those who contributed to their success.

"We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone behind this success. First, sa amon coach, Miss Emay. Sa past coaches namon, Sir Van and Sir Ram. Sa ECE Faculty and sa whole ECE family," Mahinay added.
