Talisay City College is now an institutional member of the Philippine Political Science Organization. The PPSA is the premier professional organization of political science scholars, researchers, and practitioners in the Philippines. Given our institution's commitment to enriching our Political Science program, and at the same time furthering our knowledge on the social sciences as a whole, this inlcusion truly is a great step towards this development.

The Social and Behavioral Sciences Department of TCC proudly presents the Dean's Listers from the BA Political Science program for both the 1st Year class and the 2nd Year class. We acknowledge that their abilities in understanding socio-political concepts and as well as mastering ideas outside of their discipline has gained them such an amazing feat.

On March 12, 2026, through an online meeting, the Social & Behavioral Sciences Department of Talisay City College successfully held a Consultative Dialogue under the department’s 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗚𝗘 (𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘶𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘌𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦) initiative to strengthen the 𝑩𝑺𝑬𝒅 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎. Attended by faculty, stakeholders, alumni, and students, the dialogue gathered valuable insights on curriculum alignment, employability competencies, teaching strategies, and quality assurance.

The Department commits to translating the cited valuable inputs and recommendations into concrete actions through faculty training, curriculum integration, and student enrichment activities. This initiative underscores the Department's dedication to enhancing the quality of education and further strengthening the caliber of graduates under the program.

𝑺𝑩𝑺 𝑷𝑰𝑳𝑳 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅

On March 11, 2026, the Social & Behavioral Sciences Department successfully convened the 𝑺𝑩𝑺 𝑷𝑰𝑳𝑳 (𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒌), composed of the Class Mayors and Governors of the BA Political Science program and its co-managed program, BSEd major in Social Studies. The initiative aims to strengthen leadership responsiveness to frontline concerns and emerging issues by fostering close collaboration with student-leaders.

During the dialogue, various concerns were heard and discussed, spanning from academic matters, student welfare, institutional services, classroom and organizational leadership, governance, co-curricular activities, and other relevant issues. A log of concerns was formally recorded to ensure progress monitoring and responsive action.

This close collaboration underscores the department’s commitment to serving its students effectively. The SBS PILL meeting will henceforth be conducted monthly to sustain engagement, accountability, and shared responsibility among student-leaders and the department.

𝓢𝓑𝓢 𝓲𝓷 𝓐𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷

Designated implementors of the 𝓢𝓑𝓢 13-𝓹𝓸𝓲𝓷𝓽 𝓐𝓰𝓮𝓷𝓭𝓪 engaged in an intensive, day-long planning session during the 𝑺𝑩𝑺 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒑 held on March 2, 2026. The purpose of this action planning was to lay down workable plans for the strategic directions that the department will take for the second semester of Academic Year 2025–2026.

The workshop concluded with a symbolic commitment activity, where participants left their finger marks on a canvas aptly titled “𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵: 𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.”

𝗧𝗖𝗖 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗨𝗣-𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂’𝘀 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Last March 10, 2026, several of the instructors under the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department, their Department Head, representatives from the BSED - Social studies Program and BA Political Science Program, and the GAD Focal of Talisay City College attended a public forum entitled "Empowered Women: Women in Service" held at the Performing Arts Hall, UP Cebu, Lahug, Cebu City.

This insightful forum was organized by CHR Region 7, in partnership with the University of the Philippines Political Science Society (UPPSS), the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Cebu City Chapter, and The Asia Foundation.

Babae ka, hindi babae lang!

𝗧𝗖𝗖 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟰𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗗𝗦𝗔 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿

On February 25, 2026, with the full support of College President Dr. Richel N. Bacaltos, the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department, in partnership with the TCC Center for Human Rights Education, spearheaded a powerful commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary. The spirit of EDSA was meaningfully incorporated into SBS classes across all programs and was further extended to the field teaching sessions conducted by the BSEd Social Studies interns. At the Admin Building lobby, an installation artwork entitled “Tie a Yellow Ribbon ’Round the Old Oak Tree” invited students to inscribe their hopes for the nation on post-its, symbolizing collective aspirations for a brighter future.

The celebration culminated in a moving program at the TCC grounds at 6:00 PM, attended by SBS faculty, BSEd Social Studies, BA Political Science, and BSEd English 3 – Fitzgerald students. The event started with an interfaith prayer led by representatives of Catholic, Pentecost, LDS, and Muslim communities, followed by the heartfelt community singing of “Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo”, a song that rekindled the memory of unity and courage during one of the darkest chapters in Philippine history. Ms. Reality S. Tabernero, SBS instructor, delivered a compelling rationale enriched with audio excerpts of historic speeches, from President Marcos Sr.’s declaration of Martial Law, to Sen. Ninoy Aquino’s heroic defiance, and Cardinal Jaime Sin’s call for solidarity.

What followed was a series of stirring nationalistic performances by BSEd Social Studies students: a vocal solo, spoken poetry that silenced the crowd with the poignant line describing the EDSA People Power Revolution “Kung saan, Binuhusan ng pag-asa, diniligan ng luha, at nagtipon gamit ang kandila”, and another piece that drew resounding applause with its call for justice,“ Pansinin sana ang kabutihan ng lahat ay sapat at walang kaltas, sapagkat tayo naman ay lumulaban ng patas.” A song number and interpretative dance further deepened the commemoration, while the crowd’s spirited chant of “EDSA Kuwarenta” answered by “Kapayapaan!” electrified the atmosphere.

The program reached its emotional peak with the simultaneous candle lighting, symbolizing the revolution’s courageous yet non-violent resistance that toppled the dictatorship. This was followed by prayers for peace and the powerful singing of the protest anthem “Di Niyo Ba Naririnig”, with attendees raising their fists high, a symbolic call to awaken vigilance against tyranny and human rights abuses.

This meaningful and engaging celebration not only honored the legacy of EDSA but also served as a resounding reminder to future generations to guard our hard-fought freedom and democracy. Its spirit lives on in the timeless words: “Di Niyo ba Naririnig, tinig ng bayan na galit, himig ito ng Pilipinong, di muli palulupig.”
