𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗔 | NSED kontra “The Big One”, nilahukan ng PDMHS

Matagumpay na nakibahagi ang President Diosdado Macapagal High School (PDMHS) sa ginanap na 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), sa tulong ng pakikipag-ugnayan sa pamunuan ng Barangay Katuparan upang palakasin ang kahandaan ng pampublikong paaralan sa posibleng sakuna.

Pinangunahan ni G. John Ray Mendoza, School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) Coordinator, ang nasabing drill katuwang ang iba’t ibang organisasyon ng paaralan upang matiyak ang maayos at ligtas na pagsasagawa nito.

Sa panayam kay G. Rodolfo Bedejo, Barangay Security Force Assistant Team Leader, kanyang sinabi na isinagawa ang earthquake drill upang masiguro ang kahandaan ng lahat sakaling tumama ang hindi inaasahang “The Big One” na tinatayang aabot ng 7.2 magnitude.

“Pero kung sakali mang tumama, siyempre, handa ang buong barangay sa anumang posibleng mangyari,” pagbibigay-diin ni G. Bedejo.

Samantala, naglaan ang pamunuan ng Barangay Katuparan ng mga ambulansya, medic, at responders para sa isinagawang earthquake drill ng paaralan na ginanap nitong Huwebes, Nobyembre 6, ganap na alas-nuwebe ng umaga.

What day is it?🤔✨ IT'S WORDY WEDNESDAY!!✨

Did you know that the earth's orbit around the sun is not CIRCULAR but actually ELLIPTICAL?

We may notice sometimes when looking at solar system models, at first glance, planetary orbits appear to be perfect circles. But in reality, they are actually an ellipse—slightly stretched or elongated.

This is according to Johann Kepler's discovery; it is described in his First Law of Planetary Motion, also called the Law of Ellipses. This law explains why the earth and other planets are orbiting the sun in a path described as an ellipse with the sun at one of the two focal points (foci).

For a planet's orbit to be in a circular shape, its eccentricity must be 0. While for an ellipse, it must be between 0 and 1. The parabola and the hyperbola are the other two shapes. A parabola has an eccentricity of 1, whereas a hyperbola has an eccentricity larger than 1.

Currently, Earth's orbital eccentricity is around 0.0167, which is very close to zero. That’s why the orbit appears perfectly round to us—but it's still nearly circular and technically an ellipse.

Additionally, in a cycle that lasts roughly 100,000 years, Earth's eccentricity is currently decreasing extremely slowly and getting closer to its least elliptic (most circular) due to gravitational interactions.

The camp gave us a remarkable glimpse into the world of 𝙗𝙞𝙤𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙮, with insightful talks on molecular diagnostics, nutrition, and life sciences, and hands-on laboratory activities such as 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙪𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙙 𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙊𝙑𝙄𝘿-𝟏𝟗. 𝙅𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙖’𝙖𝙢 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙖 𝘼. 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧, were fully immersed in hands-on laboratory experiments at the molecular level. From cancer gene detection to sickle cell gene testing and nucleic acid analysis for COVID-19, they experienced how biochemistry bridges the microscopic world to real-life scientific applications. 🔬💛

Modern phones are kinda smart — once they hit 100%, they stop juicing up. ✅ So don’t worry, your phone won’t instantly die just ‘cause you left it charging while you sleep like most people think.

BUT 👀 there’s still catches!

• Your charger still sips a little power (aka phantom energy) wasting energy. ⚡

• If you do it all the time for months/years, your charger might give up faster because it will reduce the charger's life span leading to more e-waste... ♻️

Last Wednesday, September 10, 2025, students and science teachers gather for the opening of the science month and announcement of activities set for the month prepared by the school's science clubs, with the theme "Siyensya, Teknolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kaakibat sa Matatagag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Kinabukasan."

Education Program Supervisor Marivic T. Almo also came along to the celebration, giving her remarks and appreciation for the school's initiative to make science active and playful.

Dado's Got Talent Season 1 Winner, Jewel Tidalgo sang "Paraiso," setting the tone for the event.

As part of the program, the science clubs was inducted by the ATOMS Club Adviser Mr. Rhay Jhon Decipulo.

As the most awaited part, Ms. Renavil Saril declared the opening of the Science Month at PDMHS.

Ms. Archilyn Pelayo, YES-O Club Adviser, then presented the activities set for the month. The activities are the following: Science Essay Writing Contest, Science Poster Making Contest, Science Exhibit-ion, Research Workshop, Science Banner Making Contest, Mr. & Ms. Scientist, and Siyensikula.

ATOMS Club President John Rich Encarnacion and ATOMS Club Auditor Angelica Nazarine Villaverde served as the master of ceremonies.

Hango mula sa Ilokáno, ang sellag (Inlges: moonlight) ay tumutukoy ay nakakabighaning liwanag mula sa buwan. Bukod sa kaaya-ayang itsura, ang sellag ay mahalaga ring gabay sa mga manlalakbay tuwing gabi at batayan sa pangingisda.
