๐๐๐๐๐ง๐ | NSED kontra โThe Big Oneโ, nilahukan ng PDMHS

What day is it?๐คโจ IT'S WORDY WEDNESDAY!!โจ
Did you know that the earth's orbit around the sun is not CIRCULAR but actually ELLIPTICAL?
We may notice sometimes when looking at solar system models, at first glance, planetary orbits appear to be perfect circles. But in reality, they are actually an ellipseโslightly stretched or elongated.
This is according to Johann Kepler's discovery; it is described in his First Law of Planetary Motion, also called the Law of Ellipses. This law explains why the earth and other planets are orbiting the sun in a path described as an ellipse with the sun at one of the two focal points (foci).
For a planet's orbit to be in a circular shape, its eccentricity must be 0. While for an ellipse, it must be between 0 and 1. The parabola and the hyperbola are the other two shapes. A parabola has an eccentricity of 1, whereas a hyperbola has an eccentricity larger than 1.
Currently, Earth's orbital eccentricity is around 0.0167, which is very close to zero. Thatโs why the orbit appears perfectly round to usโbut it's still nearly circular and technically an ellipse.
Additionally, in a cycle that lasts roughly 100,000 years, Earth's eccentricity is currently decreasing extremely slowly and getting closer to its least elliptic (most circular) due to gravitational interactions.

Techy Tuesday!
Ever heard the myth that โCharging your phone overnight ruins the battery. โ Let's bust it!
Modern phones are kinda smart โ once they hit 100%, they stop juicing up. โ
So donโt worry, your phone wonโt instantly die just โcause you left it charging while you sleep like most people think.
BUT ๐ thereโs still catches!
โข Your charger still sips a little power (aka phantom energy) wasting energy. โก
โข If you do it all the time for months/years, your charger might give up faster because it will reduce the charger's life span leading to more e-waste...
โข And yep, that tiny wasted energy still adds up for the planet ๐
So no need to panic if you charge overnight once in a while โ but being mindful helps your phone, your safety, and even the environment.
Remember; charge smart, not hard. ๐
