LOOK: On 18 March 2025, 47 students from the Maritime Security Law Enforcement (MARSLE) Course, Class 48-2024, participated in an Information Program Visit (IPV) at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Academy Silang, Cavite headed by the Superintendent DIR III NARAVY D DUQUIATAN and the Assistant Superintendent IA V JURY G ROCAMORA and also attended the Superintendent of Maritime Security Law Enforcement Training Institute (MSLETI) CAPTAIN LEILA A TATEL.

The visit centered on Republic Act (RA) 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which was discussed by ATTY. IRANI N. DECOSTO, Assistant Chief of the Legal Affairs and Assistance Division. This law plays a critical role in combating illegal drug activities, with particular emphasis on its application to maritime security and enforcement.

During the session, students gained comprehensive insights into how RA 9165 is applied in maritime operations, learning about the legal procedures for handling drug-related offenses. The PDEA Academy offered valuable guidance on the role of maritime law enforcement officers in preventing drug smuggling and trafficking through sea routes. This exposure gave the students a deeper understanding of the significant intersection between drug control and maritime security.
