SPDALTCUA OFFICERS’ VIRTUAL MEETING — SEPTEMBER 20, 2026

Building Systems • Developing People • Strengthening Professionalism

The Southern Philippines Drum and Lyre Trainers & Choreographers United Association (SPDALTCUA) successfully conducted its Officers’ Meeting, with discussions focused on strengthening the organization’s professional direction and long-term development programs.

📌 Key Discussions

1. VCCS Marching Band Development Proposal
The officers discussed the latest development of the Valencia City Central School (VCCS) proposal following its presentation to the Local School Board. The proposal will be further refined and prepared for Division-level consultation and guidance.

2. Trainer Professional Development
The officers emphasized that sustainable marching-band development must include not only the learner and the band, but also the development of competent and professional trainers.

Develop the Trainer → Develop the Musician → Develop the Band → Build a Sustainable System

The proposed Trainers Professional Development Framework will be refined for consultation, while respecting the authority of DepEd and schools.

3. MME-to-Brass Development Pathway
The proposed pathway from Melodica Marching Ensemble (MME) → Musical Development → Brass Readiness → Senior High School Brass Band remains part of the development framework, subject to school and DepEd consultation.

4. Phased Financial Planning
The Finance Officer recommended presenting financial and resource requirements according to development phases rather than as one consolidated amount, supporting transparency and manageable implementation.

5. International Professional Knowledge Exchange
SPDALTCUA welcomed Mr. Peter Muller, a retired marching-band educator with more than 30 years of experience, as a professional resource person for future knowledge exchange.

The organization sees this connection as an opportunity to learn how marching-band systems are developed in another educational environment.

“We don't need to copy. We need to learn, adapt, and develop our own system.”

The proposed exchange will focus on professional learning, not immediate formal partnership. Any future partnership or designation will undergo proper organizational discussion and documentation.

🌱 One Direction

The officers recognized that the VCCS proposal and international professional exchange are connected by one larger purpose: SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT.

SPDALTCUA seeks to build systems that develop trainers, musicians, learners, and sustainable school-based marching-band programs—while respecting the proper roles and authority of schools and DepEd.

🎯 Our Guiding Spirit

SERVITIO • DISCIPLINA • EXCELLENTIA
Service • Discipline • Excellence

“A proposal becomes meaningful when it moves from paper to proper consultation.”

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to unity, discipline, professionalism, continuous learning, and the development of young musicians.

VALENCIA CITY-WIDE MARCHING BAND ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM

The presentation highlighted our continuing vision of creating a more systematic, sustainable, learner-centered, and professionally supported pathway for marching-band development across Valencia City.

Among the concerns presented was the development gap that Valencia City still needs to address in the field of Marching Band Arts—not because our young people lack talent, but because their talent deserves a stronger and more sustainable development system.

The proposal emphasizes:

🎵 Systematic Music & Marching Training
🥁 Sectional Development & Progressive Equipping
🎺 Musical and Visual Performance Development
🎼 Performing Arts & SPA-Aligned Pathways
🎹 Melodica Marching Ensemble Development
👨‍🏫 Trainer Professional Development
🛡️ Learner and Parent Protection
🤝 School–Community Partnership
📊 Monitoring, Evaluation & Continuing Development

During the presentation, the Chair of the Local School Board also raised the important question of how the proposed program could be supported financially and requested the appropriate consideration of its resource requirements.

While immediate funding could not be established at the meeting, the discussion opened an even more important pathway:

The proposal was encouraged to proceed to the Schools Division Office of Valencia City for review and further consideration.

We are especially grateful for the positive response and openness of Dr. Jesnar Dems S. Torres, Schools Division Superintendent, regarding the proposal and its possible review at the Division level.

For UNTIBA/SPDALTCUA, this is not simply about obtaining support for one marching band.

This is about opening a conversation on how Valencia City can progressively develop its young musicians and performers.

🎯 FROM ONE SCHOOL TO A CITY-WIDE VISION

Our proposed starting point includes the development of Valencia City Central School as a potential pilot environment, subject to the proper approval and policies of the school and DepEd.

From there, the long-term vision is to explore how successful practices may eventually be adapted by other interested schools.

Our guiding principle remains:

“DO NOT RUSH THE BAND — BUILD THE BAND.”

Because sustainable performance is built through:

ASSESS → EQUIP → TRAIN → REINFORCE → INTEGRATE → PERFORM → EVALUATE → DEVELOP

❤️ OUR BURDEN, OUR PURPOSE

As practitioners, we recognize that there is still much work to do.

But we choose to see the gap not as a reason for discouragement, but as an opportunity for development.

Valencia City has young people with talent.

We have schools willing to nurture them.

We have parents willing to sacrifice for them.

We have educators and trainers willing to serve.

What we need is to bring these efforts together into a stronger system.

And that is what UNTIBA/SPDALTCUA hopes to help build.

Dili lang ta mag-build og marching band.
We want to build a system that builds young people.

Protect the Learner.
Respect the Parents.
Support the School.
Develop the Performer.
Uphold Trainer Integrity.
Build the Future.
🤝 NEXT STEP: DIVISION-LEVEL CONSULTATION

With gratitude, UNTIBA/SPDALTCUA will now work toward the upgrading and refinement of the proposal for presentation and review at the Schools Division Office of Valencia City.

We sincerely thank the Local School Board, the Chair, the participating offices, Dr. Jesnar Dems S. Torres, and everyone who listened to the proposal and helped open the next door for this initiative.

This is only a beginning.

One school can be a starting point.
One city can become a model.
One generation can become the legacy.

📋 OFFICIAL MEETING & FELLOWSHIP REPORT
September 13, 2026 | Claveria, Misamis Oriental

“One Beat. One Vision. One Mission.”

A productive and meaningful day was successfully accomplished by the Southern Philippines Drum and Lyre Trainers & Choreographers United Association (SPDALTCUA) during its officers’ and members’ gathering on September 13, 2026, held at the Ruel G. Macasusi Residence, Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

The gathering brought together SPDALTCUA officers, newly registered members, and invited participants for organizational discussion, membership orientation, project development, and fellowship.

🏛️ ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

One of the major matters discussed was the continued development of the proposed:

VALENCIA CITY CENTRAL SCHOOL
MARCHING BAND DEVELOPMENT, SECTIONAL EQUIPPING &
SPA-ALIGNED PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM

The officers agreed to continue the deliberation and refinement of the proposal during the next scheduled organizational meeting.

The organization also recognized the importance of conducting the succeeding meeting in Valencia City, which would provide greater convenience for possible participation and consultation with representatives of Valencia City Central School, particularly the School Principal and Marching Band Moderator.

👥 MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

A significant accomplishment of the gathering was the registration of four (4) new honorary members, who are now undergoing the appropriate organizational process prior to their formal oath-taking and recognition.

The new members were also given an orientation regarding the organization's purpose, values, fellowship, responsibilities, and continuing development.

This reflects SPDALTCUA's commitment to building an organization based not merely on numbers, but on professionalism, participation, service, discipline, and unity.

🤝 FELLOWSHIP & CAMARADERIE

Beyond the formal discussions, the gathering provided an opportunity for officers and members to strengthen their personal relationships through fellowship and shared experiences.

The simple moments of conversation, meals, laughter, and camaraderie reminded everyone that an organization becomes stronger when its members learn not only to work together, but also to walk together as colleagues and friends.

From the meeting table to the fellowship table, the spirit remained the same:

ONE BEAT.
ONE VISION.
ONE MISSION.

📌 NEXT STEP

SPDALTCUA will continue the preparation and deliberation of the VCCS Marching Band Development Proposal, together with other organizational matters, at the next scheduled meeting.

The organization remains committed to creating meaningful professional opportunities for trainers and choreographers while helping schools, young musicians, and communities develop stronger and more sustainable marching arts programs.

⭐ A DAY OF PROGRESS

September 13, 2026 will be remembered not simply as another meeting date, but as another step in the continuing journey of SPDALTCUA.

From the early conversations of its founders, to the gathering of today's officers and members, the organization continues to grow—one person, one idea, one partnership, and one project at a time.

The journey continues.

The beat goes on. 🥁
