Katimo National High School strengthened its commitment to a safe and secure learning environment through a School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) session titled โSafe and Ready: Strengthening School Safety Enforcement and Standardized Incident Reporting at Katimo National High School.โ, August 13.
During the session, Mrs. Marissa C. Balmes, School Principal I, discussed School Safety Enforcement or the implementation of D.O. No. 6 series of 2026, which tackles about standard safety rules inside the school, the 200-meter Safer School Zone, and online.
In the discussion, the required safety and security measures were highlighted, such as entry/inspection procedures, prohibited items, offense gravity, and enforcement procedures, and the importance of having standardized and coordinated responses to incidents to ensure safety inside the campus.
The โNo ID, No Entryโ policy was emphasized, along with logging in/out and proper random bag inspection, must be done politely and respectfully.
Mrs. Balmes also reminded the staff that having equal and uniform enforcement of rules is necessary in order to maintain a safe and secure environment.
Moreover, the roles of school personnel, PNP, barangay tanods, and PTA, local government, and students were thoroughly discussed.
It was also highlighted that aside from strict implementation of rules, the safety guidelines shall be done with dignity, courtesy, respect for human rights, and privacy while avoiding any form of public shaming, corporal punishment, discrimination, and unjust bag inspection.
Furthermore, due process and the right of the learners, as well as the parents/guardians, to explain or justify their actions before any form of punishment or action is carried out, shall be enforced.
Through the conduct of the โSafe and Readyโ SLAC, KNHS personnel were able to enhance their understanding and knowledge about their roles and duties in relation to school safety and incident response.
