“NEVER DENIED, ONLY REDIRECTED”
Actually, Radtech was not really my original plan for college. I was taking up architecture at a local university. Architecture was something that I had dreamed of taking when I was a child.
But things did not work out the way I planned, and I eventually realized that maybe architecture was not really meant for me. It was not easy to let go of my dream course, but I learned that not everything we plan for ourselves is necessarily the plan God has for us. I believe that failing or changing your path does not mean that you are a failure. Sometimes, you just have to trust that there is a bigger plan waiting for you.
I was really supposed to take nursing because I really wanted to be in the medical field, but my parents did not allow me because of the expenses, especially since we were also going through some financial difficulties at that time. So, I started looking for another course related to the medical field, and that was when I discovered BS Radtech.
Honestly, before that, I thought that radtechs were just hospital staff who took X-rays. But when I started researching about the course, I became curious and realized how important the role of a radiologic technologist is in the field of healthcare.
Around that time, one of my batchmates was already enrolled in Radiologic Technology at BIT IC, so I asked her about the school, the system, and her experience. After hearing about it, I became interested and eventually decided to enroll. The tuition was also more affordable compared to other schools, which was a big factor for me and my family. Another thing that made BIT IC feel more special was that my mom is also an alumna of the school. Looking back, I feel like maybe I was really meant to be part of this institution.
One of my most unforgettable memories here at BIT IC was our internship. It was during our different rotations that I got to know my classmates better, especially those whom I was able to work with and spend time with during our rotation. We experienced so many things together—funny moments, stressful days, mistakes, and even moments when we were all tired but still had to keep going. Those experiences helped us become closer and created memories that I know I will carry with me even after graduation.
One funny and unforgettable memory was when all of us received an Incident Report because of a TikTok we made during our internship. At that time, we were definitely nervous, and learned our lesson, but looking back, it became one of those memories that we can laugh about now. It reminded us that even though we can have fun and enjoy our time together, we also need to know our responsibilities and limitations, especially while we are in the clinical area. We are not supposed to take any photos or reels anywhere just because we feel like doing so. This is something that people in my generation has to understand.
Aside from the funny moments, the challenges and corrections we received during our internship helped us grow. They taught us to become more responsible, disciplined, and mindful of our actions. Looking back, my internship was not always easy, but it was definitely one of the most meaningful parts of my journey at BIT IC. The people I met, the friendships I made, and even the mistakes I, together with my co-interns, made are memories that I will always treasure.
BIT IC changed me in many ways. When I first entered this school, I was still trying to figure out what I really wanted after leaving architecture. I was unsure if radiologic technology was truly the right path for me. But as the years passed, BIT IC helped me discover things about myself that I did not know before.
It taught me to become more responsible, patient, independent, and confident. It also taught me that not everything has to happen according to our original plans. Sometimes, we have to accept changes and trust the path God gives us. I came to BIT IC thinking that I was simply choosing another course, but along the way, I learned to appreciate Radiologic Technology and understand its importance. More than the knowledge and skills I gained, BIT IC taught me to keep going even when things become difficult. It helped me grow not only as a student, but also as a person who is now ready to face the next chapter of my life.
I never planned to take this path, but I eventually learned to trust God’s plan and embrace where it led me.
Go Beyond!
