[UPDATE] ZOOM EXPERIENCES TECHNICAL PROBLEMS; AFFECTING ONLINE CLASSES, VIDEO MEETINGS

Zoom started experiencing issues early in the morning while the outage grew bigger later in the day.

If you are facing problems connecting to Zoom, you are not alone. Zoom is suffering a widespread outage currently, impacting video calls, webinars, and online learning in many parts of the world. But the worst-hit market is Australia, where the Zoom outage threw a wrench into the works by causing troubles for schools and colleges that heavily rely on the video teleconferencing platform.

“We are aware of a subset of customers experiencing errors while joining a live meeting. We are currently investigating and will provide updates as we have them. Apologies for any inconvenience,” said Zoom on Twitter after it released a preliminary fix for whatever caused the outage. There is no clarity, however, on what caused the outage.

Since 3:00PM, more than 150 reports have been submitted in Downdetector, the website that keeps track of outages on the internet, regarding the status of Zoom. Three of the most reported problems are joining conferences, starting a conference, and the app itself has a problem.

People have been trying different workarounds to make their video calls work, even though it is a fault on the company’s side. Some of these people claim they got through. One user wrote on Twitter that disabling the firewall settings in Windows worked for him and he could connect to his online class on Zoom. That said, Zoom has not said anything about such workarounds, so it is better you wait for an official fix from the company.

However, at 5:00PM PST today, Zoom tweeted that they "have resolved the issue causing a subset of customers to experience errors while joining a live meeting." The tweet also stated that they will continue to monitor and provide updates regarding the situation. The updates may be accessed here: https://status.zoom.us

Still having problems accessing zoom or initiating a meeting? You may visit the website of Downdetector and place a report about Zoom malfunctioning here: https://downdetector.ph/status/zoom/

UPDATE: MS Teams now 'enabled', Class Notebook still down

In a joint effort between the LPHS-LMS Technical Support and the Microsoft Technical Support, a solution for the 'disabled' prompt of MS Teams has been formed on Sunday, January 31.

The 5-page walkthrough document contains a step-by-step guide into making sure MS Teams will now let its users sign in. The document also contains illustration for easy reference.

A copy of the walkthrough document is available with the different grade level advisers.

On the other hand, the OneNote Class Notebook feature of MS Teams is still down as of this writing. Users may still not be able to upload/download files into the class notebook. However, uploading/downloading files through the private channels are working.

LOOK HERE: MS Teams 'disables' login, LPHS TechSupport writes Microsoft Support

"Sorry, but we have trouble signing you in."

Following the reports that Class Notebook and Microsoft Forms couldn't be accessed through MS Teams, some students of LPHS have reported to that the app has 'disabled' their access on Saturday, January 30.

Katrina Cotoner, a Grade 10 student of the school, is one of those who had her access to the app disabled. According to Cotoner, she was trying to access the app to get some school works done when she was not allowed access because 'Microsoft Teams is disabled'. "I tried signing out and signing in again, but still the same problem pops out," Cotoner said in an interview.

Meanwhile, Mr. Meg Giles Kirby Tupaz, LMS-in-Charge, had received the report and did some troubleshooting. "Yes, it seems that we are really experiencing problems with the app right now. Earlier this week, there was this problem with the Class Notebook and uploading or downloading files, and now this," Mr. Tupaz said in an interview.

On the other hand, the LPHS-TechSupport through Mr. Tupaz has already sent an incident report to the support team of Microsoft. Microsoft has yet to reply on this matter.
