Leadership is not just a title but a responsibility to serve by being an honest and fair figurehead as well as to uphold justice amongst all of the people. When one holds office, it is not a matter of superiority but rather having the responsibility to represent other students by doing what is right and just while serving them. Therefore, whatever one does as a leader should be done with honesty, compassion, and responsibility instead of focusing on personal gains.

According to Rousseau, respect is more effective than fear, and service is more likely to be lasting than power; hence the best way to exercise authority is through respect and service. It is only through such an approach that officers can have trust from the students they intend to lead and represent. Therefore, as student officers, one should serve with responsibility and humility by being fair and honest to everyone. The role played by student officers in a school is too significant to be handled carelessly. By serving the community, they gain respect from others and ensure a mutually beneficial relationship since they also benefit by representing their peers. It is upon student officers to develop proper leadership to benefit their school community by helping them have a just and caring school environment.

Such leadership will enable them to achieve their goals by making better decisions as well as promoting coexistence among their peers. In turn, they will become effective leaders who make a difference in their student community, which is the best reputation one can obtain while in school.
