๐ฆ๐๐ก ๐๐๐ฅ๐ก๐๐ก๐๐ข, ๐๐๐๐จโ Kanluma Integrated School (IS), representing the District of Tabuelan, won fifth place in the SIBOL Competition during the 2026 Division Science and Math Fair held in the Municipality of San Fernando on October 10.
Young researchers Nikko Heero M. Branzuela and Christ Xandross Anton Mangubat, both writers of Ang Pulayag, presented their science investigatory project titled โPost-Digestion Seed Viability and Germination: A Comparative Analysis of Seeds Recovered from Cow and Goat Dung in Kanluma Grasslands.โ
The study, coached by Jake Ruel J. Bocado, investigated whether seeds recovered from cow and goat dung could still germinate after passing through the animalsโ digestive systems.
The research explored the potential role of animal dung in seed dispersal and vegetation growth in Kanlumaโs grasslands, providing information that may help the community understand local plant growth and grassland management.
The achievement marked the first time the District of Tabuelan entered the SIBOL Competition since its inclusion in the Division Science and Math Fair.
Kanluma IS competed against more than 30 entries from schools across the Division of Cebu Province.
Meanwhile, Khiven Sinajonon and Kirresha Lombres also represented the district in the Sci-Math Quiz under the guidance of their coach, Marvie T. Sipalay.
The achievement showcased the young learnersโ dedication to scientific inquiry and highlighted Kanluma ISโs continuing efforts to promote research and innovation among elementary pupils.
