President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. officially signed into law the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) on March 3, 2025, strengthening its role in providing alternative pathways for professionals to earn a degree.

The Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) aligns with the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) through its competency-based recognition system. Both frameworks prioritize skills, work experience, and achievements as academic equivalents, ensuring that qualifications are standardized based on competencies rather than the traditional years of schooling.

Degrees obtained through ETEEAP are classified under PQF Level 6 (Bachelor’s Degree), making them nationally and internationally recognized, especially in countries with Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs). This alignment supports lifelong learning and mobility, allowing individuals to advance their education, career prospects, or international opportunities based on their prior experiences.

Through ETEEAP, professionals with at least five years of relevant work experience can fast-track their bachelor’s degree without undergoing the traditional education process. Additionally, TESDA-certified individuals holding qualifications from PQF Levels 2 to 5 can leverage their competencies to shorten the time required to complete a degree. This program significantly benefits industries that require degree holders while providing opportunities for skilled workers without formal diplomas to achieve academic recognition.
