Carmen Central Elementary School celebrates NATIONAL AUTISM CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK
As we observe the 29th National Autism Consciousness Week, it is imperative to raise awareness and promote compassion and understanding for individuals on the autism spectrum in the Philippines. During National Autism Consciousness Week, the students and staff of Carmen Central Elementary School with the support and with the active leadership of our dear principal, Mrs. Hezelsira Arreza, came together to celebrate and raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD. To show their support, the school organized a simple but meaningful gesture—giving out colorful bookmarks to every student. Each bookmark featured inspirational quotes, facts about autism, and vibrant artwork to foster understanding and kindness.
The bookmarks were designed not just to inform, but to spark conversations about inclusivity and empathy. Teachers used the opportunity to educate students about ASD, highlighting the unique strengths and challenges faced by individuals on the spectrum. The act of handing out the bookmarks became more than just a giveaway—it was a moment of unity, where every student and teacher stood together, embracing the differences that make each person special.
For many students, the bookmarks served as a reminder that kindness, awareness, and acceptance are important every day, not just during one week of the year. The week ended with a sense of pride and a renewed commitment to fostering an inclusive environment at Carmen Central Elementary School.
