𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐨 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬—𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲!

On March 2, 2026, students of Surigao Doctors College went on an educational trip to the National Museum of the Philippines in Butuan City as part of their Art Appreciation subject. The educational tour was participated in by students from Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management 1 (BSHM), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration 2 (BSBA), and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology 2 (BSIT), together with faculty members and staff led by Sir Nyphil John Ybias, MIT.

The National Museum of the Philippines—Butuan was the first stop of the visit, where the students were warmly welcomed by the museum’s docents and educators who guided the SDCians throughout the exhibit tour. In the first part of the tour, the museum educator gave an orientation on the museum’s policies and guidelines, followed by an informative introduction to the museum’s exhibits. These included the historical development of Butuan and its significant artifacts, the discovery of the ancient Balangay, and the Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA).

The learning experience continued at the Butuan Archaeological Park, where students witnessed the site where the first Balangay was discovered. The exhibit also featured skeletal remains of early Butuan inhabitants, giving students a deeper appreciation of the city’s rich archaeological and cultural heritage.

After exploring the museum and archaeological site, the SDCians headed to their next Art Appreciation activity—a cinema experience where they watched Scream 7, a horror film chosen by many of the students.

In the end, the visit became a memorable and meaningful learning experience for the SDC community, allowing students to appreciate both history and culture beyond the classroom.

The Surigao Doctors College competed in the Bureau of Internal Revenue RDO No. 105–Surigao City Poster Making Contest, held on February 10, 2026 with the theme “Mahusay na Serbisyo, Katumbas ng Buwis Mo” at BIR Building KM4 National Highway, Barangay Luna, Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

SDC participants are Winston Dela Paz, Rich Mark Achas who are both from the Bachelor of Science and Business Administration—Marketing Management 3 and John Fe Achas from the Bachelor of Science and Business Administration—Marketing Management 1.

During the contest, sir Nyphil John Ybias, MIT, the adviser, poured his support to the participants of SDC in the competition, believing that SDC will have its recognition as one of the competing school.

The Surigao Doctors College Faculties, Staffs, and Students also extends their warmest support to the participants of the BIR RDO No. 105. Poster-Making Contest.
