Ang pagdiriwang ng ika-128 na Araw ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas ngayong Hunyo 12, 2026, ay hindi lamang pagbabalik-tanaw sa makasaysayang pagwagayway ng watawat noong 1898 sa Kawit, Cavite. Ito ay isang paalala na ang kasarinlan ay hindi isang tapos na yugto, kundi isang patuloy na proseso at responsibilidad na pasan ng bawat henerasyon.

​Sa nakalipas na mahigit isang siglo, nagbabago na ang anyo ng ating mga suliranin at pakikibaka. Wala na ang mga dayuhang mananakop, ngunit patuloy tayong nakikibaka sa kahirapan, korapsyon, hamon sa edukasyon, at banta sa ating pambansang soberanya. Ang tunay na diwa ng kalayaan ay makikita sa ating kakayahang tumindig laban sa mga modernong suliraning ito, bitbit ang mga aral at lokal na naratibo ng katapangan mula sa ating mga ninuno.

​Sa kasalukuyang panahon, ang pagiging makabayan ay hindi na nangangailangan ng pagbubuwis ng buhay sa digmaan. Ito ay nasusukat sa pagtataguyod ng katotohanan, pagpapahalaga sa ating kasaysayan at kultura, at sa tapat na paglilingkod sa kapwa at bayan. Despite the increasing academic workload and busy schedules the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) remains steadfast in its commitment to spiritual growth through its regular prayer meetings.

Yesterday’s prayer meeting was led by Ms. Cristin Madelo, who shared an inspiring message based on 1 Samuel 23:16. The verse recounts how Jonathan, the son of Saul, sought out David while he was in hiding and helped him find strength in God. It highlights the value of friendship, support, and faith, especially during moments of uncertainty and hardship.

The prayer meeting served as a reminder that while academic responsibilities may be demanding, nurturing one’s faith is equally important. Through fellowship, prayer, and reflection on God’s Word, the CAS community continues to draw strength, encouragement, and inspiration.

Pride and celebration filled the air as the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of Surigao del Norte State University produced 79 graduates from its three academic programs: the Bachelor of Arts in English Language, Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, during the 56th Commencement Exercises and 4th Chartered University Graduation Rites held at the SNSU Gymnasium.

Present during the graduation ceremony were the faculty members of the college and program chairs, led by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Louida P. Patac.
