Your confidence and trust in me motivated me to perform my duties and responsibilities to the best of my ability. I am looking forward to be at the Coast Guard service,"

YOUNG WOMEN MAKE HISTORY

In 2015, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) started sending exemplary young Filipinos to the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) to give them the best Coast Guard education and training, in preparation for the establishment of a first-class Cadet Corps in the Philippines.

This will be a precursor to the establishment of the PCG Academy in the near future.

Two years later, the PCG discovered DIANNE SHAIRA BASUEL, and together with Daisy Anne Atayan, they became the first female PCG-sponsored cadets under the PCG Cadetship Program.

"The encouragement, dedication, and support of everyone I met here at the USCGA molded me to be a leader of character who exemplifies the Coast Guard's core values," Basuel shared.

On 19 May 2021, Basuel, together with her fellow PCG-sponsored cadets, Daisy Anne Atayan, Eric Joseph Noble, and Genison Basilio, will formally graduate from the Academy.

Their commencement exercises will be graced by none other than U.S. President Joe Biden.
