June 1–2, 2026

S. Nilong Elementary School proudly announces the opening of enrollment for the School Paper Journalism (SPJ) Program. We are calling on all talented, passionate, and driven students who are ready to make their voices heard through the power of the written word.

Enrollment is open to all qualified students. Secure your slot early — spaces are limited, and only the best will make the cut.

Requirements for Enrollment:

✅Completely filled-out enrollment form (available at the SPJ Coordinator's Office)
✅Latest Report Card
✅Letter of endorsement from the Class Adviser
📍 Venue: SPJ Coordinator's Office, S. Nilong Elementary School
🕘 Time: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (both days)

✏️ QUALIFYING EXAMINATION
June 3–4, 2026

Only those who have successfully enrolled will proceed to the Qualifying Examination — the first true test of your skills, knowledge, and potential as a young journalist.

The examination will cover:

✅English and Filipino Writing Proficiency;
✅Grammar, Vocabulary, and Comprehension; and
✅Editorial and Feature Writing Fundamentals.

This is your moment to prove that you have what it takes. Come prepared. Come focused. Come ready to excel.

🕗 Time: 7:30 AM sharp — NO LATE EXAMINEES WILL BE ACCOMMODATED

🎤 INTERVIEW

Candidates who successfully pass the Qualifying Examination will advance to the final stage — the Personal Interview with the SPJ Panel.

This is where your passion, personality, and dedication take center stage. The panel will assess:

✅Communication skills and self-expression;
✅Motivation and commitment to school journalism;
✅Understanding of journalistic ethics and responsibility; and
✅Creativity and critical thinking.

📍YOUNG SCRIBES RISE: S. NILONG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BENCHMARKS SPJ EXCELLENCE AT KALAWAG CENTRAL SCHOOL

In preparation for the opening of the Special Program in Journalism (SPJ) this coming school year, S. Nilong Elementary School conducted a benchmarking activity at Kalawag Central School on May 28, 2026. The visit focused on learning effective practices in managing the SPJ room, facilities, and documentation to strengthen the school’s readiness in offering quality campus journalism education.

The activity provided valuable insights and inspiration as S. Nilong Elementary School continues its commitment to developing future young journalists and responsible communicators.

The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to the supportive Principal, Sir Razul Macasayon, of Kalawag Central School, the SPJ Coordinator, dedicated SPJ Advisers, and to Sir Ralph Anthony Geronimo of Bagumbayan National High School for warmly sharing their time, expertise, and best practices. Your generosity and guidance truly inspire us as we begin this meaningful journey in journalism education.
