Cancer changes the big things — your health, your plans, your future.
But it also changes the small things people never see.
Getting out of bed becomes a victory.
Energy becomes precious.
Even smiling can take strength.
From the outside, it may look like a normal day.
But inside, there’s fear, hope, exhaustion, and courage all fighting at the same time.
The way even beautiful days can still have sadness sitting in the background.
Cancer patients know exactly what I mean.
Sometimes the bravest thing a cancer patient does all day is simply show up.
For those who have never lived it, I hope this puts it into perspective a little more, because cancer does not just change your life in the obvious ways.
It changes the way your heart moves through ordinary life forever.
So if you know someone battling cancer, remember —
they’re not just fighting the disease…they’re carrying the invisible battle too.

As 2025 comes to a close, my heart is filled with gratitude. I would like to express my deepest thanks to Asenso Pinoy Partylist for covering *in full* my mastectomy operation last July 2025.

Because of your Asenso Pinoy Medical Assistance Program, I was able to focus on what truly mattered—healing, staying strong, and facing my battle with breast cancer—without the heavy burden of hospital and laboratory expenses.

In a time when our health system feels uncertain, your support made an overwhelming journey more bearable and gave me much-needed peace of mind during one of the most difficult chapters of my life.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you, *Asenso Pinoy Partylist*, Cong. Ando Oaminal and Governor Henry S. Oaminal for this life-changing financial assistance. Your kindness will always be remembered. 💙

Life Update November 2025:

“Your tests are ALL clear,” I felt the world pause for a moment. Relief washed over me like a warm tide — gentle but overwhelming. For days, I had carried the weight of fear in my chest, bracing for the worst, praying for the best. And in this instant, I was reminded of what it means to breathe freely again.

I understand that these checkups are not reminders of my sickness — they are affirmations of strength, courage, and continued grace.

But the truth is, life with cancer is not simply about surviving — it’s about learning to live differently. Gratitude now sits beside me at breakfast. Everything feels more personal. I’ve learned to listen — to my body, my heart, my faith. I’ve learned that healing doesn’t mean forgetting what happened; it means moving forward with a deeper appreciation for the fragile, fierce gift of being alive.

I’ve realized that life will always come with waiting rooms — moments of uncertainty, of silent prayers, of hopeful heartbeats. But I am not the same person I was months ago. I am lighter, stronger, and more awake to life’s everyday miracles.

Choosing Courage: The Heartbeat of My Pink Journey

The days leading up to June 26, 2025, were a whirlwind of fear, tears, laughter, and deep conversation. Facing a 1.7-centimeter time bomb in my right breast, the idea of a mastectomy was terrifying—it meant saying goodbye to a part of me.

But underneath the fear was a profound sense of relief and the fierce determination to fight the enemy inside.

I learned that courage doesn't mean not being afraid; it means doing it despite the fear.

From having one last "junk trip" with my husband, to laughing with friends the night before, to my simple prayer in the OR—"Lord, I place everything in your hands"—I walked through the fear, holding onto my faith and the love of my family.

My surgeon's calm singing, the nurses' kindness, and my family's unwavering support transformed the cold operating room into a place of peace.

The operation is done. The journey continues.

Today, I realize that courage simply reshapes fear. It doesn't chase it away. And choosing that courage is, and will always be, the heartbeat of my pink journey.

A short update during our family trip and wellness travel.

We maximized our schedule here in CDO and joined the Bone Rush Run organised by the Philippine Orthopedic Association to promote bone health and wellness. As for every run, I am moved to tears for the chance to be able to do this.
