ICYMI | CoTEd Hailed as Best Bureau; Faculty Members Receive Multiple Honors at Araw ng Parangal

The Sorsogon State University College of Teacher Education (CoTEd) was recognized as the Best Bureau during the Araw ng Parangal held as part of the 119th Founding Anniversary Celebration of Sorsogon State University on May 25, 2026, at the SorSU Covered Court.

The event also recognized the outstanding achievements and invaluable contributions of faculty members and personnel from the College of Teacher Education, who received various awards and distinctions in recognition of their excellence in teaching, research, extension, and service.

Special recognition is likewise due to the College’s faculty-scientist researchers, whose significant contributions to knowledge creation and research productivity continue to elevate the University’s academic standing. Their dedication to scholarly excellence has strengthened CoTEd’s reputation as a center for research and innovation in teacher education.

The College also takes pride in its Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) topnotchers and high-performing graduates, whose remarkable achievements embody the quality and excellence of the education provided by CoTEd. Their success serves as an inspiration to aspiring educators and a source of pride for the entire SorSU community.

Equally deserving of recognition are the College’s retirees, whose years of faithful service, commitment, and sacrifices have laid the foundation upon which many of the institution’s successes are built. Their legacy continues to inspire current and future generations of educators.

Happening Now | SorSU Hosts Re-Echo of Pag-Urulay-Ulay 2026

The Sorsogon State University College of Teacher Education is hosting the Re-Echo Activity of Pag-Urulay-Ulay 2026 in collaboration with CHED Region V and the Council of Deans for Teacher Education Region V today, May 29, 2026, at Antonio’s Hall, 3rd Floor, SorSU Dormtel.

The ongoing activity is attended by deans, program chairpersons, program heads, and faculty members from various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs), and Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) across the provinces of Sorsogon, Masbate, and Albay. The program features discussions on CHED updates, curriculum templates, Bicol 101, and other relevant matters.

The seminar-workshop is led by Dr. Rose Marie Arao, Dr. Michael Bibon (EPS II), and Ms. Ma. Sharie Bailon (EPS II). During the Opening Program, SorSU Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort welcomed all participants and guests. He emphasized the continued support to academic affairs, teaching competencies, and connecting policies to practice.

We are incredibly proud to feature the inspiring and deeply impactful implementatiom of project LOTUS year 5 of the dedicated 3rd year pre-service teachers from the SorSU College of Teacher Education from April to May 2026 across the province and city of Sorsogon🥰✨

Our future educators stepped up as community volunteers, returning to their own localities to offer FREE tutorials. Driven by a shared mission to bridge learning gaps, they crafted and contributed real, grassroots solutions focusing on three critical foundations of learning:

💡 Comprehension

This initiative goes far beyond a simple training exercise; it is a steadfast advocacy. Through the LOTUS project, our pre-service teachers were exposed to the very real challenges and beautiful diversity of our learners. They didn't just practice pedagogy—they lived it. By meeting students where they are, they developed the essential, irreplaceable competencies of becoming a true teacher: patience, adaptability, empathy, and the unwavering belief that every child deserves a chance to learn and thrive.

To our CoTEd pre-service teachers: You have touched lives, sparked hope, and shown us what genuine service looks like. You have proven that you don't need a formal classroom to be a teacher. Long before you receive your degrees, you are already changing the world, one child at a time.

CoTEd Gears Up for Phase 2 COE Application; Dr. De Jesus and Top Administrators Extend Full Support

The College of Teacher Education (CoTEd) faculty members and students convened on May 13, 2026, at the CBM Hall, fourth floor, to finalize preparations for the Phase 2 evaluation of its Center of Excellence (COE) application. The meeting centered on key reminders, updates, and announcements as the college readies itself for assessment by the Teacher Education Council (TEC).

Following the successful completion of Phase 1 of the evaluation process, the College, under the leadership of its Dean, Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia Jr., initiated the distribution of tasks among indicator chairs and faculty members. This strategic coordination aims to ensure that all requirements and performance indicators are systematically addressed ahead of the evaluation.

The meeting was graced by the presence of University President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, SUC President III, who delivered an inspirational message expressing her appreciation for the College’s efforts and extending her best wishes for the upcoming evaluation. She was joined by Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto, Campus Director of SorSU–Sorsogon City, all of whom conveyed their full support for the College’s pursuit of excellence.

The College of Teacher Education is scheduled to undergo evaluation by the Teacher Education Council through a field visit beginning May 14 until May 15, 2026.

Sorsogon State University (SorSU) continues to uphold its commitment to quality education and academic excellence as it celebrates the success of its 127 newly Licensed Professional Teachers (LPTs) who successfully passed the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) held on March 15, 2026.

Standing out in this remarkable feat are 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗦𝗼𝗿𝗦𝗨𝗲ñ𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗙𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗼 (𝗕𝗦𝗡𝗘𝗗), who ranked 𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 with a rating of 93.40%, and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗚𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗳𝗼 (𝗕𝗦𝗘𝗗-𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀), who placed 𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹, likewise earning a rating of 93.40%.

According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), 18,376 elementary teachers out of 32,796 examinees (56.03%) and 45,001 secondary teachers out of 61,561 examinees (73.10%) passed the licensure examination.

Remarkably, SorSU-Sorsogon City Campus achieved an overall performance rating of 80.77% (21/26) in the elementary level, with an impressive 95.24% passing rate (20/21) among first-time takers. In the secondary level, the campus recorded an overall passing rate of 86.67% (65/75), while first-time takers garnered an outstanding 96.67% passing percentage (58/60). Meanwhile, SorSU-Bulan Campus attained a 100% passing percentage (3/3) among first-time takers.
