The camp defense operation reminded me that discipline and teamwork are what keep us standing when chaos unfolds.

As I move forward, I bring with me more than just the lessons from these exercises, I carry a renewed sense of purpose. After the ceremony, we immediately proceeded to our designated area of responsibility, where we organized our personnel and established the foundation of our operations.

Later in the evening, we conducted checkpoint operations, police visibility, patrol, and surveillance in response to a report concerning a suspect involved in a series of robberies and motorcycle thefts in the area. Based on CCTV footage, the individual employs a deceptive modus operandi, wearing construction PPE to conceal his identity while carrying out criminal activities. Intelligence reports also link him to illegal drug trade operations.

The suspect was last seen at a construction site near the Hyna area. In response, intelligence gathering has been initiated to determine his identity and background. A comprehensive intelligence packet and action report are being prepared. Additionally, heightened checkpoint operations and police visibility was conducted to deter further criminal activities and ensure public safety.

The PCG plays a critical role in law enforcement, search-and-rescue, and environmental protection, ensuring the safety of our waters—especially in the West Philippine Sea. One of the highlights of our visit was the rare opportunity to tour the BRP Gabriela Silang, a multi-role vessel designed for maritime patrol, surveillance, and emergency response.

Exploring the ship's state-of-the-art radar, communication systems, and advanced navigation tools deepened our understanding of the dedication, skill, and technology required to protect our maritime domain. This visit reinforced the importance of coastal defense in combating illegal activities such as smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal fishing.

February 24, 2025 - As part of our Cadet Attachment Program Field Visit, we had the privilege of visiting two significant institutions: the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

At the OCD, particularly the Education, Training, and Doctrine Command, we were warmly welcomed by EUGENIO A. GEPTE JR. PA (Ret.), Director of the Civil Defense and Disaster Management Training Institute. Engaging lectures were delivered by Mr. Robert Padillo and Mr. Felix Palacio, highlighting the crucial role of disaster preparedness and the PNP’s responsibility in disaster risk reduction. One key insight we gained was how modern approaches have shifted from reactive to proactive measures, ensuring that disaster response is efficient and community-centered.

In the afternoon, our journey continued at Camp PMGen Tomas B. Karingal, Quezon City, home of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD). We were welcomed by PCOL MELECIO M BUSLIG JR., Acting District Director, along with the QCPD Command Group. They imparted invaluable advice to us graduating cadets, emphasizing financial management, career flexibility, and the importance of embracing our first assignment, regardless of location. We also toured their state-of-the-art Integrated Command Control Center (ICCC), where we witnessed firsthand the effectiveness of their Three-Minute Response System, demonstrating the rapid deployment and efficiency of their personnel in real-time scenarios.

This experience reinforced our commitment to public service, disaster resilience, and effective law enforcement. As we prepare to take on our roles in the PNP, we carry forward these lessons, knowing that service goes beyond enforcement, it is about protection, preparedness, and community engagement.
