The University of Antique (UA) strengthened its commitment to advancing space-enabled research, innovation, and education as it joined the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) Integrated Network for Space-Enabled Actions Towards Sustainability (PINAS) Academe Space Science and Technology Applications (SSTA) Training and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing held in Quezon City on August 10-11, 2026, as part of the Philippine Science Week 2026 celebration.

Representing the University of Antique were University President Dr. Godelyn S. Hisole, Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovation Dr. Jelyn Alentajan, and Mr. John Jowil Orquia, faculty member of the College of Computing and Information Sciences.

The collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening the University’s use of space science, technology, and applications (SSTA) and satellite data in advancing research, innovation, education, and sustainable development. Through PINAS, PhilSA promotes the application of space-enabled technologies and data to address national and development priorities.

For UA, the partnership opens opportunities to further integrate satellite imagery and emerging technologies into its academic and research initiatives, particularly in topographic, environmental, natural resource, coastal, and nautical mapping. The University also seeks to enhance these applications through Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, particularly in relevant programs and research initiatives.

The partnership further supports UA’s participation in the National Copernicus Capacity Support Action Programme for the Philippines (CopPhil), jointly implemented by PhilSA, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the European Space Agency (ESA). Through the program, UA will contribute to and benefit from the use of Sentinel satellite data for the mapping and monitoring of land, forest, and crop cover, as well as benthic habitats.

The milestone underscores the University of Antique’s continuing pursuit of research-driven innovation, space-enabled education, and evidence-based solutions for environmental management and sustainable development, while strengthening collaboration with national and international partners in advancing science and technology in the Philippines.

Elegance met tradition as University of Antique President Dr. Godelyn G. Hisole graced the University of the Philippines Alumni Association, Inc.– Iloilo Chapter Annual Homecoming Dinner and Awards Night on July 26, 2026, at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel in Iloilo City. Clad in a contemporary Filipiniana ensemble, Dr. Hisole joined fellow UP alumni in an evening that celebrated shared legacies, lasting friendships, and a collective commitment to excellence.

A proud alumna of the University of the Philippines, where she earned her master's degree, Dr. Hisole rekindled ties with fellow graduates and engaged in meaningful conversations with distinguished members of the UP community, including UP Visayas Chancellor Dr. Clement C. Camposano.

Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, of Batangas State University and the current President of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), led the 3rd Executive Board Meeting bringing together members of the PASUC Executive Board, presidents of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and their representatives on July 24, 2026, at the Century Ballroom of Century Park Hotel in Malate, Manila.

The meeting centered on key policy and governance matters affecting the country’s public higher education institutions. Among the major agenda discussed were updates on the draft SUC Leveling Guidelines, the proposed pathways for SUC presidents nearing the end of their respective terms, fiscal year 2027 budget concerns of State Universities and Colleges, and the revised AACCUP criteria for institutional accreditation.

Representing the University of Antique, President Dr. Godelyn G. Hisole, REE, participated in the meeting alongside fellow SUC presidents from Western Visayas. Following the executive session, the Western Visayas delegation joined colleagues from across the country in an advance birthday celebration honoring CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, recognizing her leadership and continued commitment to advancing Philippine higher education.

Many graduates secretly believe that everyone else has already figured life out. Social media will make it seem as though classmates are landing prestigious jobs, traveling abroad, building businesses, or pursuing dreams while others are still sending résumés, collecting rejection letters, or wondering if they are already falling behind.

The painful truth is that graduation does not place everyone at the same starting line.

So, what is next after graduation?
Life. Beautiful. Uncertain. Painful. Extraordinary life.
A life that will break some of your plans only to reveal a greater purpose. A life that will humble you before it honors you. A life that will teach lessons no classroom could ever contain.

Graduates, walk into that future not because you know exactly where the road leads, but because you have become the kind of person who will keep walking, even when the path disappears beneath your feet. And when, someday, another graduate asks you, "What is next after graduation?" perhaps your answer will simply be this:

"The next chapter is not about proving that you deserve your diploma. It is about proving that the education it represents has become the way you live, the way you serve, and the way you love. Graduation gave you a degree. Life will now ask you to earn your legacy."
