"I am proud and thankful to see our students thrive in their own strands. They sincerely treasured the skills that they acquired from us," Shirley F. Abkilan, Master Teacher I and senior high school coordinator, says as she gives her opening remarks.
The only TVLs offered by the BNHS are Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM), and Cookery, in which students demonstrate what they have learned from their immersion. The students are committed to giving the customers exceptional, professional, honest, and responsible service.
SMAW strand exhibits their metal-working skills along with their inventive welding designs. They use welding to create their own personal inventions and a flower stand display.
EIM strand presents the installation of Closed-circuit Television (CCTV). Moreover, they also displayed various dwelling designs, such as invited machines and different house designs with electricity installations.
Cookery strand holds a competition where participants must make innovative cakes to demonstrate their baking skills.Additionally, they demonstrate their expertise in wedding design and table skirting.Also, the teacher and students witness the wine mixing of the cookery students.
Indeed, the event was successful, and the parents also witnessed the display, and they are thankful for the school for equipping their students.

| DOST Introduces Starbooks to BNHS

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) came to Balagunan National High School and introduced the First Philippine Science Digital Library, which is called the 'Starbooks' (Science and Technology Academic and Research Based Openly Operated Kiosk Station), witnessed by the school principal, Dr. Leomar A. Liboon, teachers, and students, on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 9:00 in the morning.
The project technical aide VI, Nikko Paรฑa, started introducing the starbooks by sharing information, contents, advantages, objectives, and roles of the said project.
"It contains thousands of digitized science and technology resources for K1โ12," Paรฑa said, which made the teachers, especially the school principal, more amazed about the starbooks.
Starbooks is a great help, especially for places that don't have access online. Starbooks are in pod, which is offline and has more contents, and it also has online access, which is a great advantage for teachers and learners.
"It encourages great and curious minds to develop new ideasโinventions and innovations," said Paรฑa, which all have agreed.
After the demonstration, the project technical aide V, Jhun Rey Vistal, took place in front and showed a video presentation that is focused on grassroots innovation. He encourages everyone, if they know someone who has invented something incredible and unique, to let them know.
"There are no boundaries in education; as long as you have patience, passion, and determination, you really can accomplish anything," said Paรฑa in his closing remarks that made everyone feel motivated.

No Doubt: BNHS Girl's Chess Qualifies for DAVRAA Meet 2023
Ayahzel Dologmanding Grade 9 student of Balagunan National High School drags down the mountain after defeating nine different municipalities during the Division Meet 2023 Chess Tournament Secondary Level (Girls Board 2) with a score of 9-0 at the DNSTC Pavilion, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Sunday, March 12, 2023.
She won with the score of 1-0,1-0,1-0,1-0,1-0,1-0,1-0,1-0,1-0,1-1. Dologmanding defeats her opponent by 7 checkmates, 1 surrender, and 1 tie.
However, after defeating all the competitors in the board game, Dologmanding says that she is very nervous because two of her opponents have a history of being Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) participants. Despite the anxiety, Dologmanding still had the courage to win the game.
"Never think of a negative outcome, because you cannot know unless you try," Dologmanding said as she gave her thank you speech in the school. BNHS is celebrating Dologmanding's victory. This success brought inspiration to each student at BNHS to have the courage to conquer Balagunians' dreams and achieve their goals in life.
Dologmanding has harder training right now after her class, in preparation for the upcoming DAVRAA meet 2023 in the Chess Tournament Secondary Level (Girls Board 2) that will be held on April 24-28 at Tagum Sports Complex.
