RIPPLES OF EQUALITY

In a society that proudly celebrates hospitality and diversity, many Filipinos continue to endure discrimination simply because of who they are. "Ripples of Equality" is a powerful advocacy film that confronts the unseen realities of stigma experienced by LGBTQIA+ individuals and challenges the audience to question the beliefs that continue to normalize exclusion.

Through a compelling progression of cinematic storytelling, documentary-style narration, and direct advocacy, the film traces the journey from silent prejudice to empowered action. It opens with the everyday voices of discrimination that echo through schools, communities, and public spaces—revealing how ordinary words can leave extraordinary wounds. As these experiences unfold, the narrative shifts beyond awareness, connecting personal stories to the broader vision of Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, where equality means ensuring that every individual, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression (SOGIE), is afforded the same dignity, protection, and opportunity.

Grounded in the continuing call for the passage of the SOGIE Equality Bill, the film underscores that the measure does not seek special privileges but safeguards against discrimination in education, employment, healthcare, and other essential aspects of life. It affirms that genuine inclusion is achieved not through tolerance alone, but through policies, institutions, and communities that actively uphold human rights and protect every person's inherent dignity.

Inspired by the spirit of "From Stonewall to Present: Honoring the Past, Advancing Inclusion," this advocacy recognizes the courage of those who paved the way for equality while reminding today's generation that progress remains unfinished. Every act of respect, every voice raised against prejudice, and every commitment to inclusion creates a ripple capable of transforming society.

Ultimately, Ripples of Equality is more than a campaign against discrimination—it is a call to conscience. It invites every Filipino to reject stigma, embrace diversity, and become an active force in building a nation where equality is not merely promised, but genuinely experienced. Because achieving SDG 5 begins when every individual is free to live with dignity, authenticity, and without fear.

MARIPHOSA: The Untold Story

This story follows the journey of Mariphosa, a young individual who has always embraced and accepted who she truly is.

However, growing up under the weight of high parental expectations proves to be a difficult challenge. Despite her academic achievements and relentless efforts to make her family proud, she often feels that her accomplishments are never enough. Constantly striving for recognition and validation, Mariphossa carries the burden of feeling overlooked despite giving her best.

As she grows older, she faces even greater struggles when her parents oppose the path she wishes to take, forcing her to fight not only for her dreams but also for her right to live authentically.

Determined to continue her education, Mariphosa takes on the responsibility of supporting herself after being pressured to stop her studies.

Through hard work, resilience, and courage, she earns her own money to cover her school expenses while pursuing the future she envisions for herself. Along the way, she finds acceptance, friendship, and a supportive community that encourages her to embrace her identity as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon, Mariphossa transforms her struggles into strength, proving that one's identity should never be a barrier to success.

The story serves as a powerful reminder that true strength comes from embracing one's identity and persevering through life's challenges. It encourages families and communities to foster acceptance, compassion, and support, allowing every individual to thrive and pursue their dreams with confidence and dignity.

LUNDAYAN

BE PROUD. BE YOU. BE FREE.

This is the story of Jj, a student who is part of the LGBTQIA+ community and experiences discrimination, bullying, and prejudice at school. After being insulted by a classmate and feeling unwelcome in both the men's and women's restrooms, Jj finds acceptance and kindness from fellow LGBTQIA+ students, who warmly welcome and encourage him.

However, the group continues to face hurtful remarks from other classmates.

As the bullying continues, Mark reminds everyone that respect and acceptance should be given to all people regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.

His words lead Ria and Dani to reflect on their actions and realize that they had treated Jj unfairly. They sincerely apologize, and Jj forgives them, hoping that one day everyone will accept people for who they truly are.

The story ends with the students becoming friends, delivering a powerful message about equality, understanding, respect, and embracing diversity with the reminder: "Be Proud. Be You. Be Free."

INKLUSYON
