MIS hosts District launching of the 5As Program
Mabilbila Integrated School (MIS) hosted the district launching of the 5As project of the Schools Division of Ilocos Sur, an innovative initiative designed to strengthen school programs and foster holistic development among learners and the entire school community.
The launching brought together school leaders, LGU officials, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders who expressed their shared commitment to supporting the implementation of the project at the school and community level.
The program formally commenced with the welcome address of Mrs. Juliet C. Aquino, School Principal of MIS. In her message, Mrs. Aquino highlighted the rationale behind the 5As Project, emphasizing the importance of establishing meaningful programs that respond to the academic, cultural, environmental, social, and recreational needs of learners.
She explained that the project serves as a framework for encouraging the school community to work together toward the development of learners who are academically competent, grounded in values, responsible members of the community, resilient, and capable of enjoying and appreciating life.
Adding depth to the discussion, Dr. Wilma Fagel, Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) in charge of Santa, further explained the objectives and significance of the 5As Project. She underscored the importance of translating the five areas into concrete school programs and activities that can positively influence learners and strengthen the partnership among the school, parents, community, and local government.
The five components of the project are Agadal, Agmula, Agtagibalay, Agtaraken, and Agliwliwa, each representing an important dimension of learner development.
Agadal focuses on learning and academic excellence, encouraging learners to develop their knowledge, skills, and love for learning.
Agmula emphasizes the significance of planting which later on supports a healthy living.
Agtagibalay highlights care for one another and the community, promoting responsibility, cooperation, and meaningful relationships within and beyond the school.
Agtaraken centers on growth, development, and taking responsibility for taking care of animals and pets, encouraging learners to become responsible and respectful.
Agliwliwa recognizes the importance of recreation, enjoyment, creativity, and well-being in achieving a balanced and meaningful school experience.
The launching also gained the strong support of the local government. PPSK Maria Angela Oriente expressed her commitment to supporting the implementation of the program and emphasized the importance of collaboration among young sector, particularly the Sangguniang Kabataan, the school, and the community.
Likewise, Municipal Mayor Jeremy Jesus DP Bueno III expressed the municipality's commitment to supporting the said program. He even recalled that the 5As had been existing since then while connecting to his experience during his elementary years. He highlighted the importance of a strong partnership between the local government and the education sector in providing programs and opportunities that contribute to the holistic development of learners
The program culminated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony showcasing each of five A Program area. The activity provided the participants with a glimpse of how the school intends to translate the five pillars into meaningful and sustainable school practices.
The launching served not only as the formal introduction of the 5As Program in the district but also as a demonstration of the collective commitment of the school, education leaders, local government, and stakeholders to creating a learning environment where every learner can learn, grow, connect, thrive, and enjoy meaningful experiences.
Through the 5As Program, MIS looks forward to strengthening its programs and partnerships as it continues to pursue its commitment to holistic learner development and quality education.
