We are stepping into another game of lifeโ€”a new year filled with hidden opportunities, achievements locked behind closed doors, and lessons planned to be taught by the game itself: life.

2025 has been a rollercoaster ride for everyone. There were defeats that crushed us. There were triumphs that gave us hope. Most importantly, there were lessons that sparked growth in everyone.

Last year, we are reminded to stay hopeful. May we apply that reminder to 2026 and to the years that shall come. Let us remain hopeful despite the looming challenges that we may face.

Today, as we start a new year, we commemorate the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.

This day symbolizes how we should start the yearโ€”hopeful and trusting. Mother Mary taught us that God is an all-knowing God, His plans are carrfully crafted with love and compassion. All we need to do is trust in Him.

As 2026 starts, may we all trust in God's plan and timingโ€”like Mother Mary, may we learn to go according to His ways: full of love, joy, and hope.

Mary, Mother of God, please intercede for us.

Ngayon ay ginugunita natin ang ika-129 na anibersayo ng kabayanihan ng ating pambansang bayani na si G*t. Jose Rizal na ipinatay sa Bagumbayan (kilala ngayon bilang Rizal Park) noong 1896. Siya ay kilala bilang isang doktor, manunulat, repormista, at bilang isang polymath o ang mga taong maraming experise at kaaalaman sa iba't ibang paksa.

Bilang isang estudyante, nawa'y parangalan natin ang ating bayani sa pamamagitan ng pagmamahal para sa ating inang bayan at ipaglaban ito laban sa mga kuko ng katiwalian. Yakapin natin ang init ng liwanag ng araw na bumababa sa ating bansa, para sa ating mga ninunong namatay na ipinaglaban ang init na ito sa malamig na gabi.

On a dark night in Verona, Romeo enters the Capulet tomb and finds Juliet lying motionless, believing she is dead. Overcome with grief, he drinks poison to join her in death. Moments after he dies, Juliet awakens from her potion-induced sleep and discovers Romeoโ€™s lifeless body beside her. Friar Laurence arrives and urges her to escape, but she refuses to leave her beloved. When the friar flees as the watchmen approach, Juliet chooses to end her life with Romeoโ€™s dagger, dying beside him. The watchmen arrive too late, and the tragic deaths of the young lovers finally reveal the devastating cost of the feud between their families.

Newyorker in Tondo is a comedy play by Marcelino Agana Jr. about Kikay a Filipina who returns to the Philippines after living in New York. She comes home acting overly โ€œAmericanโ€ using a new accent and behaving as if she has completely forgotten her Filipino roots. Her friends Totoy and Nena are surprised by how much she has changed. The conflict begins when Kikay proudly announces that she is not engaged to Tony anymore, not knowing that Tony is actually Nenaโ€™s fiancรฉ. The truth eventually comes out leading to funny confrontations among the characters. In the end the situation becomes chaotic as secrets are revealed leaving the characters to deal with the awkwardness and confusion caused by broken expectations and mixed emotions. Nena has also come to embrace her Filipino culture.

Though they have shared only three days together, the bond between them blooms with a sincerity neither can deny.

Alfredo and Esperanza confront the growing emotional distance between them. Esperanza senses Alfredoโ€™s withdrawal and demands the truth. Pressured, Alfredo admits he once had feelings for another woman, which deeply hurts Esperanza. In his confession, Alfredo explains that he confused a fleeting excitement for real love and realizes too late that Esperanza has always been his constant source of light. Although wounded, Esperanza listens as he reflects on their relationship. They both acknowledge that their love feels like โ€œdead starsโ€โ€”still glowing but no longer burning as before. Despite the pain, they agree to try rebuilding their relationship, hoping their remaining light will last.
