Shaping Futures: San Isidro National High School Hosts Career Guidance Expo
Mrs. Rosewenda Caragena, school career guidance advocate, together with he committees and technical working group, spearheaded the Career Guidance Expo on March 16, 2026 where representatives from various higher education institutions and government agencies shared relevant discussions to guide learners toward informed career choices.

Representatives from Davao Oriental International Technology College (DOIT), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) โ€“ Provincial Officer, Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Mati Polytechnic College Inc., Davao Oriental Polytechnic Institute (DOPI), Maryknoll School of Lupon, and Davao Oriental State University- SIEC introduced their academic programs, admission requirements, and opportunities available for graduating students.

Through interactive booths and presentations, students were able to ask questions, explore different career paths, and learn about courses aligned with their interests and skills.

A significant part of the expo was Mati Polytechnic College Inc.โ€™s (MPCI) awarding of scholarships to the following students: Krisha Marie Aroma, Chanelene Sanjurjo, Krismaeryl Bunac, Cyril John Guitones, Rey Ayop, Harlene Grace Indagacan, and Princess Jane Alad-ad.

The scholarships were granted by MPCI as part of their commitment to support accessible education and empower promising learners from the community. The recipients expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the financial assistance would help them pursue their dream courses in college.

In addition to academic institutions, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO)
through Edgar Lingatong, PESO Manager, provided practical guidance on employment preparation. He shared important steps in career planning, including how to identify suitable career paths and understand employment opportunities available in the locality.

The higher educational institutions also discussed helpful tips such as building employability skills and participating in job readiness programs that can support students as they transition from school to the workforce or higher education.

They emphasized that the Career Guidance Expo aims to help students make informed decisions about their future, especially as they prepare for life after high school. By connecting learners with higher education institutions and employment agencies, the event served as a bridge between education and career opportunities.

Teachers and students alike described the expo as an inspiring and informative experience, highlighting the importance of early career awareness and planning.
Another highlight of the expo was the presentation of career outfits and introductions by grade level, where student representatives showcased different professions and career paths. The presentation aimed to inspire learners by visually representing various fields they may pursue in the future.

Harvey Asuncion and Mikka Solano, both from Grade 11 won the Best in Career Representation Award (Male and Female), Best in Professionalism Award (Male and Female), and Best in Runway Impact Award (Male and Female).
In addition, the award for Best in Booth Presentation was won by the General Academic Strand.

As the activity concluded, students gained a clearer vision of their goals and a renewed motivation to pursue their chosen pathsโ€”proof that initiatives like the Career Guidance Expo play a significant role in shaping the future of young learners in the community.
