CCSFP Institute of Education Student Council

The Institute of Education formally presented the results of the Makiagum Project’s literacy program to Barangay Alasas officials during a debriefing session held on April 22 at the Session Hall of the Barangay Alasas in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The meeting aimed to inform barangay leadership of the learners’ progress following the completion of the literacy component. Present during the session were 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗥. 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱𝗮, 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻, and 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗸𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗔. 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶, Barangay Kagawad, alongside selected parents, student participants, and fourth-year student teacher representatives.

Leading the presentation were 𝗗𝗿. 𝗞𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗚. 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶, Dean of the Institute of Education; 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗕. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗼, Head Proponent; 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗢. 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼, Head of the Research Office;𝗠𝘀. 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔. 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴, 𝗟𝗣𝗧, Research and Extension Representative and Student Teacher Supervisor; and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘆𝗮𝗵 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗖. 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮, 𝗟𝗣𝗧, NSTP Coordinator.

The proponents reported observable improvements in students’ reading skills and active engagement throughout the sessions. Parents shared positive feedback on their children’s experiences, noting visible academic growth. One completer, Kian, described the sessions as 𝙚𝙣𝙟𝙤𝙮𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙞𝙢 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜, which earned praise from his teachers.

Concerns encountered during the implementation were also addressed, and recommendations were identified to ensure a smoother rollout of the upcoming numeracy phase. The session reaffirmed the collaborative partnership between the Institute of Education and Barangay Alasas in supporting learners’ development within the community.

The 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰, in coordination with the 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗕𝗙𝗣), successfully held a Fire Prevention Seminar last April 16, 2026 at the Youth Development Covered Court, attended by a total of 601 first-year students, including those from the Institute of Education.

The program began with the National Anthem, Opening Prayer, and City College Hymn, followed by Opening Remarks delivered by 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝘁 on behalf of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗚. 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀, Vice President for Academic Affairs and International Engagements.

With Master of Ceremonies 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗮 𝗡. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘇 and 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 led the flow, The seminar proper was conducted by 𝗦𝗙𝗢𝟭 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗚. 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗼, Fire Safety Inspector, who kept the students actively involved with interactive questions, humor, and real-life examples. He explained that 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙙𝙖𝙮 — from handling electrical appliances properly, avoiding careless use of matches or lighters, to being mindful of flammable materials at home and in school. His lively approach made these important reminders easy to understand and remember. To make the session even more practical, two students were given the chance to demonstrate the correct way of using a fire extinguisher, showing everyone how preparedness and quick action can save lives.

Furthermore, closing remarks were delivered by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗘𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗼, OIC Dean of SASS, who shared his personal experiences and reminded everyone to apply the lessons learned in daily life. A certificate of appreciation was awarded to SFO1 Gallero, assisted by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗣. 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗯𝗮𝗻, 𝗠𝗣𝗔, Head of the Medical/Dental Unit and Ma'am Maribel Datu, School Clinic Assistant.

The event concluded with a photo opportunity featuring all attendees, capturing the unity and enthusiasm of the CCSFP community. Special thanks to everyone who organized this meaningful and impactful seminar.

Ang martsa ng ating mga bayani ay patuloy nating tinatahak sa kasalukuyan, dala ang alaala ng kanilang tapang, sakripisyo, at pagmamahal sa bayan. Sa paggunita ng 𝗶𝗸𝗮-𝘄𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘂’𝘁-𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻, ating inaalala ang mga nag-alay ng buhay at dangal upang makamit natin ang kalayaang tinatamasa ngayon. Ang kanilang kabayanihan ay hindi lamang bahagi ng kasaysayan, kundi isang buhay na inspirasyon sa bawat Pilipinong patuloy na lumalaban para sa katotohanan at pagkakaisa.

Sa paglipas ng panahon, nananatiling matibay ang diwa ng kagitingan sa puso ng bawat mamamayan. Sa gitna ng mga hamon ng kasalukuyan, tayo ay inaanyayahang maging matapang sa ating sariling paraan, sa pag-aaral, paglilingkod, at pagtatanggol sa kung ano ang tama at makatao. Ang alaala ng kanilang sakripisyo ay paalala na ang tunay na kagitingan ay nakikita sa araw-araw na pagpili ng kabutihan para sa kapwa.

Sa araw na ito, tayo ay muling nagpupugay sa mga bayaning nagbukas ng landas ng kalayaan. Nawa’y patuloy nating isabuhay ang kanilang diwa sa bawat hakbang na ating gagawin bilang isang bansang nagkakaisa at may malasakit sa isa’t isa.

In the stillness of Black Saturday, we sit in the quiet space between sorrow and hope, a moment where grief lingers and hearts wait in silence. It is a day that reflects a mother’s deep sorrow, holding on to love even in the face of loss, trusting even when the future feels uncertain.

A mother’s love endures beyond pain, it comforts, strengthens, and remains when words fall short. This day invites us to reflect on that kind of love: patient, selfless, and unwavering. It is the love that stays, even in the heaviest moments.

May this Black Saturday be a gentle reminder for all of us to cherish and honor the quiet strength of a mother’s love, and to carry compassion in our hearts. Even in silence, even in waiting, love remains.
