DECEMBER SOLSTICE IS HERE!
Today marks the SHORTEST daytime and LONGEST nighttime in the Northern Hemisphere, while vice versa in the Southern Hemisphere.
WHAT IS A SOLSTICE?
A solstice is an astronomical event that occurs twice yearly (June and December). It happens when the Earth's poles are either most extremely inclined toward or away from the Sun.
During June Solstice, the Sun's direct path (relative to Earth) reaches the northernmost latitude (Tropic of Cancer). Meanwhile, during , it reaches the southernmost latitude (Tropic of Capricorn). It also marks the beginning of astronomical winter in the Northern Hemisphere and astronomical summer in the Southern Hemisphere.
After the solstice, the subpolar point starts moving north again and the nighttime in the Northern Hemisphere will be shorter each day (and vice versa in the Southern Hemisphere) until it reaches the nearly equal day-night time during the March Equinox.
It will continue to move north until it reaches the northernmost point in latitude (Tropic of Cancer) during June Solstice.
For Metro Manila, here are the essential information:
Sunrise: 6:16 AM (East-Southeast)
Sunset: 5:32 PM (West-Southwest)
Total daytime duration: 11 hours and 16 minutes

SUPER BLUE MOON TOMORROW! 🌕
⚠️ The Moon will NOT turn Blue!!!
The Moon will reach its full illumination around 9:35 AM on August 31, 2023 (+8UTC), it is best to view it early in the morning (Aug 31) before it sets and in the evening after it rises (Aug 31) where these are the times close to its full illumination.
What is a Blue Moon?
• There are two different definitions for a Blue Moon. A seasonal Blue Moon is the third Full Moon of an astronomical season that has four Full Moons. A monthly Blue Moon is the second Full Moon in a calendar month with two Full Moons. - timeanddate
