The first day of 𝗶𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 was successfully conducted, bringing together extension practitioners, faculty members, and staff from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across the country.

Participants engaged in meaningful discussions on 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿-𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 and 𝗖𝗠𝗢 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭𝟴, 𝘀. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, gaining valuable insights on strengthening the quality, inclusivity, and impact of extension initiatives. The sessions were expertly delivered by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗼-𝗥𝘂𝗲𝗱𝗮𝘀 of 𝗢𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 and 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗚. 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗰𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘀 of 𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆.

The 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗘𝗢) extends its sincere appreciation to our distinguished resource speakers, university officials, partner SUCs, and all participants for their active participation and commitment to advancing excellence in extension services.

Among the many extension initiatives presented and other innovative community extension programs, it was the SHIELD Project that earned global recognition and emerged as the university’s highest-ranking project.

The project entitled:

“𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗘𝗟𝗗: Support, Help, Information, Education, Leadership, and Development to Combat Cyberbullying among Adolescents”

received the Special Award for Categorical Ranking — Top 100, Rank 13 under Ethics and Integrity (A6), a prestigious international recognition highlighting impactful and innovative university programs worldwide.

The Extension Services and Community Engagement Office (ESCEO), in collaboration with the Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Office of Romblon State University, invites all faculty members, extension coordinators, researchers, and extension practitioners to participate in 𝗶𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: “Innovating Extension through a Capacity-Building Webinar Series on Gender, Media, and Policy Excellence,” to be conducted on June 8–10, 2026 via Zoom Virtual Meeting.

This three-day webinar series aims to strengthen institutional and professional capacities in developing responsive, innovative, research-based, and impact-driven research and extension programs. The activity will highlight relevant discussions on gender-responsive extension, extension quality standards, media production, and the integration of research outputs into policy brief formulation for research and extension initiatives.

We are thrilled to share highlights from our recent fieldwork expedition under the Sibuyan Sea Symphony Program, focusing on the DRUMS Project (Dynamics Regulating Underwater Marine Systems).

In collaboration with the University of the Philippines Visayas through Dr. Cristy Acabado, our team conducted comprehensive surveys to advance understanding of marine ecosystem dynamics in the Sibuyan Sea.

This initiative underscores our commitment to sustainable ocean conservation and scientific innovation.

The 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (ESCEO) convened Deans, Chairpersons, and Extension Leaders for an engaging 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 focused on strengthening results driven and evidence based extension practices.

The session emphasized that extension work goes beyond simply counting trainings, seminars, or participants. What truly matters are the real and lasting changes in our communities, such as improved skills, better practices, increased opportunities, and sustainable benefits. Through shared experiences and practical insights, participants explored effective strategies to measure outcomes, enhance monitoring systems, and adopt more systematic evaluation approaches across colleges and campuses.

The discussion drew from a recent benchmarking activity attended by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝘀 and 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗙𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿, whose learnings and best practices informed the session and guided actionable steps toward stronger documentation, evaluation, and accountability in our extension initiatives.

More importantly, this Impact Talk marked the beginning of ESCEO’s commitment to impactful evaluation, promoting a more systematic, evidence-based, and outcome-focused approach to assessing extension programs and ensuring that every initiative delivers measurable and meaningful results.

Because at the heart of extension is not activity but impact, credibility, and lasting change for the communities we serve.

The Extension Program of 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 – 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 was successfully implemented under the leadership of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗲𝘅𝘆 𝗢𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗼, Project Proponent of the extension initiative 𝙊𝙧𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙮: 𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙚-𝘿𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥.

Held on 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, at the 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻, the program brought together Sangguniang Kabataan members, youth leaders, and barangay officials for a day of learning and leadership development. The event featured keynote talks and interactive workshops on ethical governance, effective administration, problem-solving, and empathy-driven leadership.

Implemented in partnership with the 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻, the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, and the 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲, the initiative strengthened collaboration and community engagement, equipping participants with enhanced leadership competencies and a deeper commitment to responsive and compassionate public service.

Through Project Orbits of Empathy, Romblon State University continues to cultivate leaders who serve with integrity and create lasting, positive change in their communities.

This initiative reaffirms the University’s commitment to responsive, inclusive, and sustainable community engagement.

All faculty extensionists and project leaders are encouraged to submit proposals aligned with the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆’𝘀 𝗙𝗢𝗖𝗨𝗦 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮: 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚, covering the priority areas of Health, Heritage, Education, Agriculture, Livelihood, Leadership and Governance, Innovation and Technology Transfer, Natural Resources and Environment, and Gender and Development.

All submitted proposals, including completed and on-going extension projects, will be evaluated during the 2026 In-House Review.
