The CCNHS Debate Society strongly condemns the tragic shooting incident that occurred at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City on June 22, 2026. This heartbreaking act of violence resulted in the loss of innocent lives and left several students injured, causing immense grief to families, friends, and the entire educational community.
As students and advocates of dialogue, critical thinking, and peaceful conflict resolution, we firmly reject violence as a means of addressing personal grievances or disputes. Schools must remain safe spaces where learners can grow, express themselves, and pursue education without fear.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this tragedy. We also express our gratitude to the first responders, educators, and community members who acted swiftly during the incident.
This tragedy serves as a reminder of the urgent need to strengthen mental health support, school safety measures, and open channels of communication within our educational institutions.
The Debate Society stands in solidarity with the people of Tacloban and calls on all members of the academic community to promote empathy, respect, understanding, and constructive dialogue.
