Dear SHMIMS Families,

Last school year, 2024-2025, Father Dennis Aguilar completed his Montessori Training in Bergamo, Italy, for Elementary Education. Also, this year, Ms. Shaina, one of our upper elementary guides, finished her Orientation Course in FCISM Bergamo, Italy, for Elementary Education.

This year, we are pleased to announce another milestone for our school community.

After months of preparation for Ms. Christy's Casa Training (2026 - 2027), and by God’s grace and providence, we have finally received the Letter of Confirmation from the Montessori Association of Thailand (AMI).

We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to you and to everyone who continues to support our initiatives in nurturing your children’s growth and development.

Fr. Paolo went to Fundazione Centro Internationale Studi Montessoriani, Bergamo, Italy to visit Fr. Dennis who is taking the 6-12 AMI Teachers Training. He will be coming back this July, ready to share with our teachers, students, and parents the training he got there for 10 months.

While taking the course, Fr. Dennis also observed different Montessori schools in Europe where he saw the best Montessori practices. The training and observations he made will guide us to remain faithful to the method that helps the child develop himself holistically.

Fourteen students from our class, St. John Paul II Class, together with some younger siblings, parents and teachers went to Casama Agricultural Farm in Pinagsanghan, Maragondon, Cavite to participate in a tree planting activity on February 15, 2025, Saturday. We left the school at around 5:20 AM in a convoy and arrived at the farm at 7:00 AM. Once we have arrived, Mr. Danilo Casama, the farm owner, welcomed us and led us to cross a very long hanging bridge over Maragondon River , a body of brackish water.
After a quick opening ceremony, the owner gave us an orientation on how we are going to plant trees then they led us to the planting site. Mr. Raymond, one of their family members, demonstrated to us how to use a pick mattock to dig up a hole, to plant a coconut and avocado seedlings, then they let us try as well. Most of us, working in pairs, ended up planting 4-6 trees during the activity.

All of us have learned something important during this activity, we have learned why planting trees is important and where natural fertilizers come from. Everyone had a great time since we not only connected with nature, especially the land but also we connected with one another, the owners and staff, the students, parents and teachers. We enjoyed eating lunch together while sharing stories. We had something SPECIAL that weekend. We appreciate this opportunity and the generosity of letting us visit and plant in CASAMA FARM, also OUR farm. (written by: Francine Ryonen Mazo, Year 6).
