A significant milestone in the preservation and promotion of Capiznon heritage was celebrated through the formal launching of โPAGBUKLAD: The Technology Transfer of the Cultural Mapping Projectโ held on May 26, 2026, at the Central Administration Board Room of Capiz State University โ Roxas City Campus.
The event marked the official distribution of the Capiz Cultural Inventories to partner Local Government Units (LGUs), led jointly by Capiz State University and the University of the Philippines Visayas.
The activity symbolizes the collective commitment of academic institutions, government agencies, cultural workers, and local communities in safeguarding the rich cultural heritage of the Province of Capiz.
The Capiz Cultural Inventories are the product of years of collaboration, research, and community engagement under the Cultural Mapping Project. Tourism officers, cultural workers, field mappers, researchers, and local informants played vital roles in documenting the provinceโs natural heritage, historical landmarks, traditions, oral histories, festivals, arts, significant personalities, and other cultural treasures that define the identity of Capiz.
Through the strong partnership among stakeholders, the project not only documented valuable cultural resources but also strengthened local efforts toward heritage conservation, cultural education, tourism development, and sustainable community development. These inventories now serve as important references for future cultural programs, policy formulation, research initiatives, and preservation efforts across the province.
As part of this undertaking, recognition is also extended to the Office of Senator Loren Legarda for its unwavering support for cultural heritage initiatives. This initiative is one of the flagship cultural heritage programs supported by the Office of Loren Legarda, which continues to champion the preservation, promotion, and protection of Philippine cultural heritage through cultural mapping, heritage conservation, and community-based cultural development programs across the country.
As PAGBUKLAD signifies โunfoldingโ or โrevealing,โ the project opens greater opportunities for communities to rediscover, appreciate, and preserve the rich cultural legacy of Capiz for future generations.
