𝗔𝗚𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗢 𝟮𝟲 𝗕𝗨𝗪𝗔𝗡 𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗜𝗞𝗔 | Yohoo, kumusta, RSUvians! Miyerkules na naman, sana nakapag pahinga ang lahat nitong nagdaang linggo para sa panibagong linggo ulit dito sa campus!

Kumusta naman ang buwan ng agosto para sa inyo? Nakakapagod ba o nawawalan na ng motibasyon sa dami ng mga activities nitong mga nakaraang linggo? Huwag kang mag-alala... Madadagdagan pa 'yan! Joke! Ganon pa man, likas na masisipag at nag-aaral nang mabuti ang mga estudyante ng RSU Sta. Maria Campus, kung kaya't bago magtapos ang buwan ng agosto, at para sa huling linggo nito, balikan natin ang mga naging bahagi o pundasyon ng wikang filipino bilang pasasalamat at pagpapahalaga sa ating wikang pambansa. Ano tara?

ALAM MO BA? (TRIVIA TIME!🤔)

Alam niyo ba kung paano nagkaroon ng opisyal na ngalan ang wika ng ating bansa? At alam niyo rin ba na hindi agad "Filipino" ang naging tawag dito? (Hmm... Ano kaya?🤔)

Nagsimula ang lahat noong taong 1937 sa pamumuno ni Pangulong Manuel L. Quezon. Sa tulong ng Surian ng Wikang Pambansa, pinili ang Tagalog bilang batayan ng pambansang wika. (Na siya rin tinaguriang Ama ng Wikang Pambansa).

pero noong 1987 Saligang Batas (Artikulo XIV, Seksyon 6), opisyal na itinadhana na ang wikang pambansa ng Pilipinas ay "Filipino". Ang pagpalit ng titik P sa F ay hindi lamang usapin ng baybay, ito ay naging simbolo ng pagiging inklusibo. (Ang daling intindihin, diba?)

Ngayon, ano ang pinagkaiba ng dalawa? Ang wikang Filipino ang wikang ginagamit ng mga Pilipino. Filipino ang ating pambansang wika na buhay at patuloy na yumayaman. Binubuo ito ng pinaghalong Tagalog, iba't ibang katutubong wika sa Pilipinas (tulad ng Cebuano, Ilocano, Hiligaynon), at mga hiram na salita mula sa Kastila, Ingles, at iba pa.

Kaya kung ikaw ang tatanungin kung anong wika o salita ang ginagamit mo, ano naman kaya ang isasagot mo?🤔 Yun lamang at sana'y may natutunan at naalala kayo sa pinagmulan ng ating Wikang Pambansa. Nawa'y patuloy rin nating tangkilikin ang sariling atin bilang pagkakakilanlan nating mga Pilipino. Hanggang sa muli, RSUvians!

𝐑𝐒𝐔-𝐒𝐌𝐂 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐒𝐃𝐏 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

‎Romblon State University - Santa Maria Campus successfully held the Strategic Development Plan (SDP) Consultation Meeting at the Campus Gymnasium on August 12, 2026.
The event brought together faculty and staff, students, and guests from the RSU Main Campus.

The program formally commenced with a prayer led by Ms. Snyrrah Beyonce Lorenzo, and was followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Dr. Arlo R. Mortos, Campus Director, warmly welcomed and introduced the distinguished guests and participants.

The consultation meeting aimed to provide the university community with an overview of the Strategic Development Plan and encourage everyone to take part in shaping the university's future direction. Arch. Hanna Faith P. Morta-Malabay, IPPDO Director, presented the overview and purpose of the SDP consultation meeting. In her discussion, she emphasized the importance of collaboration and the active participation of stakeholders in the university's development and strategic planning.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation on the proposed 'University Branding', discussed by Mr. Andrei Rafael V. Fabellon, Head of the Public Relations and Communications Unit of the Office of Media and Public Affairs (OMPA). He presented the components of the proposed new RSU logo and explained how the university's branding can represent its identity, values, and aspirations.

In the second session, Dr. Marvin Rick G. Forcado, Head of the Quality Management System (QMS), delivered "The RSU Archipelagic Context and Strategic Landscape", which provided insights into the university's current context and the strategic considerations that may guide its future development.

After the presentations, an open forum was conducted where participants were given the opportunity to share their feedback, questions, and suggestions. The exchange of ideas encouraged meaningful participation and allowed members of the university community to contribute their perspectives to the proposed plans.

The program concluded with the closing remarks by Mr. June B. Mijares.

On Monday, August 10, 2026, The Skylark successfully conducted its screening at the RSU – Santa Maria Campus Gymnasium.

To everyone who showed up, shared their pieces, and gave their best — thank you. Your passion, talent, and courage to speak through writing and art are what keep campus journalism alive.

To our new members, welcome to the family. You are now part of a publication committed to truth, service, and telling the stories that matter to the RSU community.

As we begin A.Y. 2026–2027, we look forward to growing together, learning together, and using our pens and voices to inform, inspire, and empower.

The work continues. The stories continue. And with you, the future of The Skylark looks brighter than ever. 💙

𝗪𝗘’𝗥𝗘 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗥𝗘-𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗗!

The Skylark has once again been recognized as an official student organization of RSU – Santa Maria Campus.

On August 6, the Student Development and Services Office (SDSO) approved our re-accreditation for Academic Year 2026–2027, certifying that the publication meets all university requirements.

With this recognition, The Skylark can continue its work in journalism, campus coverage, and engagement in school-wide programs.

Rest assured, we will continue to bring you timely news and stories anchored in truth.

𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗢 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗦𝗨 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀

On the afternoon of August 3, 2026, the Social and Cultural Affairs Office (SCAO) held talent auditions at the RSU Sta. Maria Campus Gymnasium. Mr. Jabes Galagata hosted the event, which began with the introduction of the panel of judges: Ms. Snyrrah Beyonce Lorenzo, Ms. Laira Marie Asebias, Ms. Julienne Madrid, and Mr. Jobert Maligo.

Students showcased their talents in singing and dancing. They demonstrated confidence, creativity, and dedication as they competed for a spot in the university's performing arts community.
