🌍 ECONOMIC FORUM: AGENDA SETTING PRESENTATION 2025— "Barangay Budgeting Simulation"
As part of the United Nations Week Celebration with the theme: “Promoting Peace, Unity, and Global Partnerships”
Under the supervision of Mr. Roger Onelan Jr., the students from Grade 12 ABM A-B (Applied Economics) and Grade 9 Ekonomiks classes successfully concluded their Economic Agenda Project.
In this meaningful activity, students were given the opportunity to propose an economic agenda in their chosen barangay in Rodriguez, Rizal to address pressing economic issues and problems. They collected relevant data and demographic information from online sources, as well as from barangay and municipal libraries and development offices, ensuring that their proposals were evidence-based and grounded in real community needs.
The culmination of this initiative was a presentation before a group of panelists, which also served as their practical examination and performance task. The students went beyond expectations as they confidently stepped into the roles of barangay officials, thoughtfully crafting solutions to improve local economic conditions.
Inspired by the principles of transparency and accountability as provided under Article XI of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, the activity aimed to promote awareness of responsible governance, emphasizing the importance of transparency in the national budget, especially in relation to flood control and other development projects.
This activity not only enhanced students’ understanding of economic realities and policymaking but also aligned with the United Nations Week’s advocacy of peace, unity, and global partnerships, reminding everyone that true progress begins with informed, transparent, and community-centered leadership.
Indeed, the said task was amazingly accomplished, showcasing the students’ critical thinking, collaboration, and deep sense of civic responsibility. 🇵đź‡
