Founded in 1963, the Ateneo Chemistry Society is a community that shares a passion in promoting the relevant application of chemistry for social engagement towards progressive nation-building. The Ateneo Chemistry Society, also known as ACheS (/eyks/), is the premier home organization for chemistry majors, but is also open to any student with a passion for science – especially the central one, Che

mistry. As a project-based organization, ACheS is able to transform the normally challenging world of chemistry into a whole new dimension – a launchpad for social change. ACheS is not only a community of caring people who are truly passionate about science and chemistry, but also a place to meet smart, fun-loving members who are eager to develop their potential as the reactants towards the overall reaction of nation-building. Knowing how to strike an equilibrium between having an awesome time and getting down to what it is truly out to do through its many Chemistry-related projects, ACheS forms strong bonds among members and with partners such as Ernesto Rondon High School and Carlos P. Here’s a glimpse of the alchemy we brewed together during our Org-Led Event last August 20, 2026. ⚗️🪻 It was filled with games and conversations that gave our fellow adepts a glimpse into the different departments and projects that keep the Ateneo Chemistry Society brewing! 🥼🧪 With this, we uncovered the work behind the metals that forged a spark towards the magical reaction we will form this year. ✨

𝙈𝙤𝙢! Phineas and Ferb have been out dancing all night! 🕺🪩

Watcha doin, Ferbettes? 💙💛 The core team had been busy preparing for WelChem 2026 these past few weeks and Phineas and Ferb just want to give them a 🎵 𝘩𝘶𝘶𝘶𝘶𝘨𝘦 🎵 hug and say,

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐘𝐨𝐮, 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦!

Thank you to our core team for working tirelessly to make the CH and CH-MSE freshies very much 𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘮ed into our department! They have put their endless energy and effort into making this project a memorable one. 🎇What a D-DAY it was indeed!

"𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂: 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲."

ON THIS DAY in 1983, Benigno Simeon “Ninoy” Aquino Sr. was assassinated at the then Manila International Airport amid rising political tensions and civilian unrest under Martial Law. But beyond his death, we commemorate his vibrant life of radical service and unending compassion to Philippine society at a time when fear, uncertainty, and injustice were rampant.

A champion of democracy and freedom, Aquino’s term in public office was marked by progressive stances, the most notable being his staunch opposition to Martial Law. Though imprisoned by the Marcos regime and exiled in the United States, Aquino continued to condemn the abuses and atrocities committed under the dictatorship. We honor him, alongside countless Filipinos, who fearlessly defended the rights of the oppressed and sacrificed their lives for the love of our nation.

The Ateneo Chemistry Society clearly recognizes the value of genuine service in pursuit of freedom and betterment for all, along with the inevitable sacrifices and hardships that come with it. We strongly reiterate this call even more so today as millions of Filipinos drown in the flood of deeply entrenched systemic issues, expected to fend for themselves in the name of “resilience”. We condemn the shameless corruption and incessant violence that rob the people of a dignified life and a brighter future. We demand transparency and accountability from those chosen to wield power, precisely because they have miserably failed in their duty to uphold the well-being of the people entrusted to their care.

As we strive to address the nation’s problems through chemistry, we extend this critical reminder of social change, responsibility, and conscience into our endeavors in scientific practice. Let us never forget to uplift our fellow Filipinos as we continue to progress in our own fields, especially in the face of injustice, oppression, and violence.
