Ginugunita ngayong araw ng Agosto 21 ang ika-apatnapu't tatlong taong pagkakapaslang kay Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. sa Manila International Airport na ngayon ay kilala bilang Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Mag-mula noong panahon ng Batas Militar hanggang sa kasalukuyan, nananatiling isang makabuluhan na bahagi ng ating kasaysayan ang kaniyang kamatayan.

Pinili niyang iwanan ang kanyang tahimik na buhay sa Amerika at umuwi sa Pilipinas kahit alam niyang may panganib sa kanyang buhay.

Matapos na siya ay lapitan ng mga pulis at gabayan palabas ng eroplano, nakarinig na lang ang lahat ng sunod-sunod na putok ng baril at nasaksihan nila ang walang buhay na katawan ni Ninoy sa paliparan ng Manila International Airport.

Nawa'y manatili sa ating kamalayan ang ipagtanggol ang kalayaan at ipaglaban ang karapatan ng bawat Pilipino tulad ng ipinaglaban ni Ninoy.

Sa pagusad ng panahon, nawa’y maging paalala din sa atin ang kaniyang adbokasiya na maging masikap tungo sa kinabukasan kung saan patuloy na umuusbong at nabubuhay ang isang malayang, makabuluhang, at makatarungang lipunan para sa Pilipinas.

Basahin ang pagninilay tungkol sa sakripisyo at pag-alala ni Ninoy Aquino sa itaas.

[Buwan ng Wika x Araw ng Lungsod Quezon]

“Ang wika ay siyang nagpapahayag ng mga kaisipan at mithiin ng isang bayan.”

Ngayong ika-19 ng Agosto, 2026, inaalala natin ang kaarawan ni dating Pangulong Manuel L. Quezon.

Bilang dating Pangulo ng Pilipinas, ang iniwan niya na pamana sa Pilipinas ay naging isang malaking bahagi ng ating pagkakakilanlan bilang bansa.

Ito ay ang pagtatag ng isang pambansang wika upang mapaunlad ang ating kultura at manatili ang pagkakaisa ng mga mamamayang Pilipino.

Mag-mula dito, itinaguring “Ama ng Pambansang Wika” si Manuel L. Quezon.

Ngunit, sa Araw ng Lungsod Quezon, hindi lang natin ipinagdiriwang ang pagsilang ng dating Pangulo o ang pagtatag ng ating pambansang wika. Inaalala din natin ang kasaysayan, mga sakripisyo at pangarap na nagbigay-daan para sa isang kinabukasan kung saan patuloy na lumalago ang ating pagka-Pilipino.
