Malaysia floods force tens of thousands to evacuate
-More than 72,000 people were evacuated as a result of the torrential rains that left Malaysian towns under water on Wednesday, according to video posted on social media and confirmed by Reuters. It was predicted that the rain and flooding would continue. Social media videos showed rivers bursting their banks as a result of dark water rushing into farms, roadways, and cars. Rescuers were spotted wading into waist-deep water to save casualties.
What triggers the devastating floods that threaten so many nations?
Possibly as a result of climate change.
Sea level rise, storm surge, and an increase in the amount of heavy rain during storms are all factors in how climate change affects coastal flooding. We can clearly see how climate change is affecting how water travels through our planet. One excellent example of how the climate catastrophe has changed our lives is the record-breaking flooding. However, there is no denying that the levee is also breaking in terms of climate action(Climate Reality Project,. 2020).
