WATCH: Presidential candidate Leody de Guzman on the UPD Governance Agenda

Presidential candidate Leody de Guzman of the Partido Lakas ng Masa answers the following questions from the UP Diliman 2022 Governance Agenda produced by the UPD Task Force Nation-Building under the Office of the Chancellor:

i.) Do any of the Governance Agenda policy proposals resonate with your platform? If so, which are these and why?
ii.) Given that the country is transitioning out of the pandemic, cite a policy issue that you will prioritize to get the country back on its feet. Explain your priority and how you intend to pursue achieve it.
iii.) What mechanism will you institute for continued policy dialogue with the academe and the citizens?

The Governance Agenda contains policy recommendations that emerged from webinar series conducted by the Task Force highlighting the national issues and concerns such as economic recovery and transformation, National Social Protection Floor, higher education, industrial policy, public transport, electoral and political reforms, local governance, and foreign relations. It is aimed to be the University’s contribution to the national conversation on policy alternatives leading up to and beyond the May 9 elections.

WATCH: The University of the Philippines - Diliman (UPD) Task Force on Nation-Building (TFNB), a multidisciplinary body under the Office of the Chancellor, will hold the Governance Agenda: A Public Launch and will present the “Governance Agenda for a Sustainable, Inclusive, and Innovation-Driven National Development,” produced by the TFNB. The public launch will be held on April 29, 2022 (Friday) from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. via Zoom and Livestream.

The TFNB was established last year to organize the webinar series that focused on the UPD academic community’s research in order to draw up evidence-based policy recommendations as the country transitions to the “next normal” under a new administration. The Governance Agenda is the University’s contribution to the national conversation on policy alternatives leading up to and beyond the May 9 elections.

The national issues and concerns that will be tackled in the policy forum are public transportation, electoral and political reforms, local governance, strategic foreign relations, higher education, economic recovery and transformation, national social protection floor, and industrial policy.
