Tail strike on VN-A867

Vietnam Airlines 787-9 out of Munich today... very late rotation, almost full runway used, confirmed tail strike, then returned with multiple tires shredded.

Philippine Airlines secured third place among airlines in Central and South East Asia in AirlineRatings.com’s 2026 Flyers’ Choice Awards.

Singapore Airlines once again topped the regional ranking, followed by Vietnam Airlines in second place and Philippine Airlines in third.

According to AirlineRatings.com, "Philippine Airlines' place on the podium reflects years of steady investment, from new Airbus A350s to an onboard experience that continues to showcase the warmth and hospitality for which Filipino service is renowned."

What makes the Flyers’ Choice Awards different is how the winners are selected.

Unlike AirlineRatings.com’s World’s Safest Airlines and World’s Best Airline awards, which are determined by its expert editorial team using specific criteria, the Flyers’ Choice Awards are voted entirely by travellers.

The results therefore reflect the airlines that passengers themselves preferred based on their travel experiences.

The awards cover several categories, including preferred airlines by region, cabin classes, cabin crew, airline liveries, and other parts of the passenger experience.

For Philippine Airlines, finishing third behind Singapore Airlines and Vietnam Airlines means passengers placed PAL among their top three preferred carriers in Central and South East Asia for 2026.

It is also good to see Filipino service receiving recognition, with AirlineRatings.com specifically mentioning the warmth and hospitality delivered on board PAL flights.
