From institution to institution, one message echoed across Bulacan: We are Scouts, and we are Messengers of Peace.

โšœ๏ธ OCTOBER IS NATIONAL SCOUTING MONTH! โšœ๏ธ

Why October? Because 89 years ago, on October 31, 1936, President Manuel L. Quezon signed Commonwealth Act No. 111 creating the Boy Scouts of the Philippines as a public corporation. By virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 1326 (s.1974), every October we celebrate Scouting Month to honor Scouting as an instrument of character development, citizenship training, and youth empowerment for nation-building.

๐ŸŒ BSP x WOSM CONNECTION
On October 1, 1946, BSP was declared a full member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). We joined WOSM not just for recognition, but for a bigger purpose โ€” to connect every Filipino Scout to the worldwide brotherhood founded by Lord Baden-Powell, to uphold international standards, and to bring global opportunities like Jamborees and leadership trainings to the Filipino youth.

Save our money for what matters. Save our food from going to waste. Save our resources for when they are needed. Save our time for things that matter, too.

As Scouts, we practice thrift by learning to manage our resources wisely. We know that a peso saved can be useful tomorrow, that food should never be wasted, and that the things entrusted to us deserve to be cared for.

We learn to think ahead instead of spending without purpose. And when the moment calls for generosity, we know that saving does not mean keeping everything.

Save what will sustain us. Share what can help others. Use what we have for something that matters.

That is thrift: knowing the value of what we have, making it last, and making it count.

In celebration of the International Day of Peace, our scouts share their own handwritten promises on what they can do to build peace.

Small actions, written on bond paper, but with big hopes for a kinder and more peaceful world. Because peace begins with us โ€” with respect, with kindness, and with unity.

As Scouts and Messengers of Peace, we are called to build peace through understanding, dialogue, service, and action. Inspired by Laudato Siโ€™, we also recognize that caring for our common home means caring for one another and building communities where everyone can thrive.

Through interreligious dialogue, environmental action, and community engagement, we continue to live out our call to peace, one action at a time. Because peace is not only something we hope for. It starts with me, and it starts with us.
