Telling By Seeing
Celebrate the Ateneo Literary and Cultural Festival 2026 with us! This yearβs ALCF brings writers, filmmakers, and artists who push the boundaries of the Filipino imagination, affirming the place of creativity in the making of the future. The festival opens with the Foundational Lecture led by Jose Mario Francisco, SJ, who will explore the history of Filipinization and its relevance to our time. There will be talks about the writer as filmmaker, the place of metaphor in cinema, and the practice of moviemaking, as well as a screening of an animated film based on Maguindanaon folk tale, a free workshop on animation, and a silent reading to promote presence and attention. Supported generously by the Kwan Laurel Fund for the Humanities, the festival will be held from October 14, 2026 to October 16, 2026, at the NGF Conference Room, Horacio de la Costa Hall, Ateneo de Manila University.
The Ateneo Literary and Cultural Festival is a symposium, a laboratory, a workshop, and a marketplace for Filipino creatives in the 21st century. Organized by the Literary and Cultural Studies Program, Kritika Kultura, and PLUME Book Club in cooperation with the Kagawaran ng Filipino sa Pamantasang Ateneo de Manila and the Ateneo Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, the festival promotes Philippine literature in English and its allied traditions, serves as a testing ground for innovation and creativity, hones leadership skills in the imaginative arts, and offers a safe space for debates that help us appreciate our cultural past, assess our artistic present, and invigorate our creative future.
This festival is open to the public.
