Agayan–Guatlo clinch second straight national berth in mixed poomsae

The mat fell silent before the music even began. Then came the first stance, sharp and certain. Every kick, block, and turn that followed moved as one rhythm. In that moment, Kyle Patrick Agayan and Princess Eunica Guatlo did not just perform a routine. They told a story of discipline shaped by years of repetition and trust.

Their performance sealed another victory at the SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Athletic Association mixed pair poomsae competition held at the Esperanza Municipal Gymnasium. With the win came a familiar reward. A second straight ticket to the Palarong Pambansa.

For the duo, the achievement was not built overnight. It was shaped by early mornings, repeated corrections, and practice sessions where timing had to be exact and trust had to be complete. Their partnership grew stronger with every routine perfected and every mistake corrected together.

Their journey to the national stage began in 2025 when they first qualified as elementary athletes. Reaching that level at such a young age was already a milestone. Returning as secondary athletes and qualifying again proved something greater. It showed growth.

Agayan admitted that the challenge only intensified. Competing in the secondary division meant facing more seasoned jins with years of experience behind every move. The pressure increased, but so did their determination to keep up and stand out.

Transitioning from elementary to secondary competition was not simply a step forward. It was a test of endurance, discipline, and7 consistency. Maintaining their form and improving their synchronization demanded patience and countless hours of shared training.

Behind every precise strike is a partnership built on trust. Timing had to match. Movements had to mirror. Confidence had to be shared. What once began as a routine evolved into a performance shaped by unity.

As they prepare for the national stage once again, Agayan and Guatlo carry more than medals and titles. They carry proof that talent may start a journey, but dedication and partnership keep it moving forward.

ANHS graduation production muling nag-viral; ‘Saranggola’ concept pinuri sa social media

ALABEL, Sarangani — Isang taon matapos mag-viral ang graduation performance ng Alabel National High School (ANHS), muling umani ng papuri sa social media ang pagtatapos ng Senior High School Batch 2025–2026 matapos tampukan ng malikhaing “Saranggola” concept ang kanilang seremonya.

Nag-viral noong 2025 ang pagtatanghal ng 732 graduates ng ANHS na sabay-sabay umawit at sumayaw sa “Liwanag sa Dilim,” na umabot sa mahigit 10 milyong views sa Facebook at itinampok pa ng ABS-CBN News noong Abril 18, 2025. Ngayong taon, panibagong produksiyon ang hinangaan online matapos ibahagi ng iba’t ibang netizens at education pages ang video ng graduation performance na gumamit ng kantang “Saranggola.”

Sa social media, pinuri ng education page na Future Educator ang konsepto at choreography, na tinawag nitong “creative” at gawa ng “brilliant minds” sa likod ng pagtatanghal.

Ayon kay Allan Ralph Royce Q. Sumalinog, senior high school teacher at isa sa mga organizer, nagsimula ang konsepto agad matapos ang graduation noong nakaraang taon.

“Right after the graduation last year, nag-iisip na kami kung ano ang gagawin sa susunod. Noong marinig namin ang intro ng kantang ‘Saranggola’ ng Ben&Ben, sinabi agad namin na ito na ang para sa Batch 2025–2026,” ani Sumalinog.

Dagdag niya, naging simboliko ang konsepto nang maiugnay ang saranggola sa toga cap ng mga magtatapos.

“Na-realize namin na square o diamond shape ang toga cap, katulad ng saranggola. Nilagyan namin ng battery-operated fairy lights ang gilid at in-extend ang ilaw sa tassel para maging buntot ng saranggola. Isang cap pa lang, ‘wow’ na. Paano pa kaya kung sabay-sabay na gagalaw ang mahigit 500 estudyante,” paliwanag niya.

Aminado ang g**o na nadagdagan ang pressure matapos ang viral success noong nakaraang taon, ngunit nanatili umano ang pangunahing layunin ng paaralan na gawing makabuluhan at hindi malilimutang karanasan ang pagtatapos ng mga estudyante.

“Ang mindset namin ay gawing formal, solemn at memorable ang graduation. Bonus na lang kung mag-trending,” aniya.

Pinili rin umano ang kanta matapos suriin ang mensahe nito para sa mga magtatapos.
“Sa ‘Saranggola,’ gusto naming ipaalala ang halaga ng pagkakaibigan at mga pangarap na magdadala sa kanila kahit magkakalayo sila,” dagdag ni Sumalinog.

Nagpasalamat din ang g**o sa mga kasamang g**o, school administrators at mga mag-aaral na naging bahagi ng produksiyon, na aniya’y hindi magiging matagumpay kung wala ang kooperasyon at dedikasyon ng buong komunidad ng paaralan.

Tulad ng nakaraang taon, patuloy na kumakalat online ang mga video ng pagtatanghal mula sa iba’t ibang anggulo, patunay, ayon sa mga g**o, na ang pagtatapos ay hindi lamang seremonya kundi alaala na mananatili sa mga mag-aaral matapos ang kanilang huling araw sa high school.
