DepEd Mabalacat City Announces New Officers-in-Charge in Selected Public Schools
Mabalacat City — The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of Mabalacat City formally announced the recent movement of Officers-in-Charge (OICs) to selected public schools, signaling a wave of new education leaders within the division for the School Year 2026-2027.

The reassignment involves Head Teachers who successfully hurdled the 2025 National Assessment for School Heads (NASH) and were given the opportunity to serve as OIC–Principals as part of their preparation toward becoming full-fledged school principals. The initiative provides them with hands-on leadership experience while ensuring continuity of school and instructional operations.

Meanwhile, other Head Teachers have been designated as OIC-Assistant Principals, concurrently completing required professional development interventions organized by the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) and meeting other minimum qualification standards. These assignments are designed to strengthen school leadership capacity while supporting career readiness.

The movement of school leaders is in line with the Expanded Career Progression for DepEd Teachers and School Heads, which aims to provide clear pathways for advancement, merit-based promotion, and sustained professional growth.

A simple installation program was held at the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent on April 14, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, marking the official assumption of duty of the newly designated officers-in-charge and assistant principals. Division officials expressed messages of encouragement and support, emphasizing the importance of strong leadership, accountability, and commitment to service excellence.

Mabalacat City athletes blaze through CLRAA 2026

Heat took a backseat as energy ignited with Team Mabalacat marching forward in the recent opening ceremony of Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association Meet 2026, held on April 8, 2026, at Aurora Sports Center, Brgy. Reserva, Baler, Aurora.

With grit and stamina, athletes and coaches paraded onward, gunning for medals and aiming for victory in a “best of the best” tilt, alongside Schools Division Superintendent Maria Carmen P. Cuenco, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Armando C. Capili, and Sports Coordinator EPSvr Jeffrey G. Dela Cruz.

Mabalacat City Mayor Hon. Atty. Gerald Guttrie Aquino and Councilor Patricia Acorda attended the opening ceremony to show their full support for the Mabalaqueno athletes. Mayor Aquino expressed his confidence that the athletes will bring pride to the city, reaffirming the local government’s full backing for the delegation.

With the initial kick off held on March 21, in Tarlac province, which co-hosted this year’s regional sports meet, Mabalacat City is still on the run with 10 golds, 3 silvers, 2 bronzes as per the partial and unofficial tally as of March 26, 2026.

The second phase of the sports events includes archery, arnis, basketball, dance sports, football, futsal, sepak takraw, table tennis, and volleyball which runs until April 13, 2026.

Nang Magkulay Lila ang DepEd Mabalacat City

Taglay ang temang "WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society", nakiisa ang DepEd Mabalacat City sa 2026 National Women's Month Celebration sa buong buwan ng Marso.

Naka-angkla sa sub-theme "Lead like Babaylans, Filipinas!" ang pokus ng NWMC ngayong taon kung saan kinikilala at pinaparangalan ang kontribusyon at liderato ng kababaihan tungo sa pagtataguyod ng pantay-pantay na trato sa komunidad.

Sa pangunguna ng Division Office, sumentro ang selebrasyon sa mga pampublikong paaralan ng Mabalacat City sa pagtangkilik at paglunsad ng iba't ibang activities gaya ng pag-display ng NWMC banner, paglahok sa Purple Wednesdays, PurpleYourProfile, NWMC-themed flag raising ceremonies tuwing Lunes, trainings para sa mga mag-aaral, magulang/guardians, at school personnel, wellness program, at iba pa.

Ang matagumpay na selebrasyon ng Women's Month ay tanda lamang ng patuloy na pagpapalakas ng mga GAD related programs sa SDO Mabalacat City sa pamumuno ni SDS Maria Carmen P. Cuenco kasama nina ASDS Armando C. Capili, GAD Focal Person Rachelle D. Lumboy, mga School Heads at ng mga bumubuo ng Division at School GFPS.

Ensuring Division-Wide Accuracy in School Forms

The Division of Mabalacat City conducted the Checking of School Forms for School Year 2025–2026 on March 24 and 26, 2026 at Gabaldon Hall, Mabalacat ES and Conference Hall at San Francisco ES.

The activity aimed to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of school records in accordance with established DepEd guidelines.

Through this initiative, the division reinforces its commitment to maintaining quality data management and supporting efficient school operations across all grade levels.

SDO Mabalacat City celebrates Women with the Nation in the 2026 National Women's Month

"Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!" Being true to this year's call of the National Women's Month Celebration (NWMC), SDS Maria Carmen P. Cuenco, with the support of ASDS Armando C. Capili, led SDO Mabalacat City in honoring and celebrating women.

Throughout March, the Division actively championed women through NWMC banner displays, advocacy integration during Monday flag ceremonies, and participation in Purple Wednesdays -- highlighting that GAD is not a one-time event, but a continuing commitment.

The celebration culminated in a Women’s Forum on March 26, where key provisions of the Magna Carta of Women were discussed by Legal Assistant Lilet Sicat, reinforcing awareness and empowerment among personnel.

More than a celebration, these efforts affirm SDO Mabalacat City’s dedication to sustaining gender-responsive practices and keeping women empowerment at the forefront -- beyond March and into everyday service.

Leadership training upskills Mabalacat City School Heads

Relative to the the National Adoption and Implementation of the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSH), the Schools Division of Mabalacat City conducted its three-day Leadership and Management Training for NASH passers and select school heads on February 20, March 6, and March 19, 2026 at the Library Hub, Mabalacat Elementary School.

The training was organized by the School Governance and Operations Division, headed by SGOD Chief Dr. Jennifer Q. Cunanan, together with HRD SEPS Agnes C. Cunanan and EPS II Rachelle D. Lumboy. To ensure a comprehensive and well-rounded implementation of the training program, the sessions were delivered by the resource speakers drawn from the three functional divisions.

Throughout the course of the program, participants were immersed in the fundamentals of leadership gaining focus on their roles in curriculum and assessment as well as school management and administration. Other equally important matters discussed were about financial leadership, partnership and resource mobilization, performance management, research and innovation, and teaching and learning.

Strengthening Foundational Reading Skills for Grade 1 Learners

The Division of Mabalacat City conducted the Second Round of Division-Wide Oral Reading Validation (ORV) for Grade 1 learners on March 9–10, 2026.

The activity focused on validating the reading abilities of learners who were absent during the first round and those identified under Level 1 and Level 2. This initiative aims to ensure the completeness of learner data and to further assess reading progress, serving as a basis for refining literacy interventions and support programs for School Year 2025–2026.

Through this effort, the division continues to strengthen its commitment to improving early literacy and foundational reading skills among young learners.
