Casilagan Elementary School, Pidigan, Abra - In line with Division Memorandum No. 267, s. 2026 and DepEd Order No. 23, s. 2015, Casilagan Elementary School successfully conducted the Student-Led School Watching and Hazard Mapping activity today to strengthen disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) initiatives and promote a culture of safety and preparedness among learners.

The activity brought together learner representatives from different grade levels under the guidance of the School DRRM Coordinator and teachers. Equipped with the prescribed School Watching Checklist, participants systematically inspected the school premises to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and vulnerable areas that may pose risks to the school community.

The Student-Led School Watching and Hazard Mapping aims to engage learners in identifying hazards within the school, increase awareness on disaster preparedness, prevention, and mitigation, develop and update school hazard maps and risk profiles, encourage active participation in DRRM initiatives, and generate recommendations to address identified hazards and vulnerabilities.

Through this initiative, Casilagan Elementary School reaffirms its commitment to creating a safe, resilient, and disaster-ready learning environment by empowering learners to become active partners in promoting school safety.

In compliance with DepEd Order No. 007, s. 2026, our official page has been renamed from DepEd Tayo Casilagan Elementary School to DepEd Casilagan Elementary School.

During the opening block of the 3-term school calendar, the school administered key assessments such as the Phil-IRI, CRLA, Rapid Math Assessment (RMA), and diagnostic tests to establish learners’ baseline competencies in reading, literacy, and numeracy. These assessments provided essential data to guide teachers in planning targeted interventions and appropriate instructional strategies. Despite time constraints and the need for individualized administration for some tools, teachers ensured that the assessments were conducted systematically and efficiently, with support mechanisms in place to assist in the process.
