Sirak

Sirak is an outreach program by UP Sidlangan, a duly recognized, non-profit organization of UP Diliman students from Biliran, Leyte, and Samar.

(Sirak means sunshine in Waray)

Established in 2015 by UP Sidlangan, Sirak is an outreach program which aims to provide genuine service to the Eastern Visayas region. We believe that there is no greater service than to help and serve our beloved region and its people. This year's benefeciary will be the students from Balilit Elementary School, Carigara, Leyte. With the theme: “Pagsaburak hin kali

pay, Pagsamwak hin kaadman”. We hope that the students of Balilit elementary school will once again experience the joy of the Christmas season as we bring them books to help them have their very own mini-library. For additional information, please contact Joy at 09178964814 and [email protected].

Manlilinao Elementary School is the rural barangay school of Brgy. Manlilinao located in Ormoc City, Leyte. The school offers preschool to sixth grade education to 376 local students, with each level taught only by a single teacher. The students are housed in 13 classrooms and a faculty room is available for the teachers. The school is still recovering from the devastation caused by Typhoon Yolanda in 2013 and badly needs donations for its school facilities. The school is also starting its campaign on immunization amidst reemerging cases of vaccinated diseases and a much needed information drive will boost their efforts.

It's that time of the year again! To celebrate the season of love and sharing, UP Sidlangan presents to you our outreach program, Sirak 2019. Our theme for this year's Sirak is, "Education: The Vaccine for Misinformation". This year, we would like to give love and happiness to the kids of Manlilinao Elementary School in Ormoc City, Leyte, this coming December 21.

Last month, UP Sidlangan hosted its annual outreach program entitled Sirak. The theme of this event was, "Paghatag gugma, pagsamburak kalipay," which means to give love and spread happiness. UP Sidlangan did just that by giving Manloy Elementary School a mini library, and school supplies for its students.

The event was a success. That is why we would like to thank the donors for the resources needed to run this event.

Sirak 2018's beneficiary is Manloy Elementary School in Carigara Leyte with 114 students (Kindergarten to Grade 6). The school has only 6 classrooms, with no library for the kids. The school is located in a far-flung area, that is why the school has not been a beneficiary for any outreach activities, until today.

In line with this year's theme, UP Sidlangan would like to give love and spread happiness to the kids of this school.
