At 52, newly in the practice of law, I often tire — yet instead of resting, I find myself compelled to draft documents I believe must win my clients’ cases. I wonder if this impulse is unusual, but I sense it springs from a deeper source I cannot fully name.

Illusion and advocacy. A magician directs attention to one hand while the other performs the trick.

Similarly, a litigator frames issues to spotlight favorable facts while minimizing the rest.

In fact, I say it's some kind of forensic sorcery, where words and logic conjure realities that sway judgment. The real magic lies not in supernatural forces but in the human capacity to transform facts into conviction.

Met a fellow lawyer last night and gained a new friend. At 60, he carries twice the energy and kindness I could hope to match. His example reminds me that there is always room to grow, to learn, and to serve with speed and sincerity — no matter the years.
