From everything we've heard and watched from soon-to-be Sen Vic, soon-to-be Sen Marcoleta, Cong Ungab, and our FPRRD, it's clear that something deeply wrong has happened with the handling of the Philippine 2025 budget Bicam appropriation. The fact that someone—whether a legislator or another party—could interfere with the appropriated amount after everything was finalized is both infuriating and unacceptable. We're talking about billions of taxpayers money, and when those change numbers without clear accountability, it undermines the whole process.
Who was behind this and how they had the power to alter something that was already signed and ratified.
Here's where we stand with their expositions:
1. How can we expose this? Public rallies, social media campaigns, and raising awareness can create the kind of momentum needed to demand transparency. People will push for accountability if we continue to shine a light on it. And legal action could play a role—if the truth about the manipulation comes out, we can challenge it at the highest levels, such as the Supreme Court, to determine if the process was unconstitutional.
2. What's the next step? Accountability must be our priority. Calling for a full audit or investigation into the final document will be key. We need to push for the truth about how the budget came to be and demand answers for why there's such a discrepancy between what was signed and what was reported.
3. Could this lead to impeachment? If the evidence is there, it's possible. This level of manipulation could lead to calls for impeachment, especially if public trust is shattered. The law must be upheld, and those responsible must be held accountable.
4. Will public pressure be enough? I truly believe it can be. If enough people rally behind this cause, this can't be ignored. The people have a right to know where their money is going, and they'll demand justice if we stand united on this issue.
This is a pivotal moment. The integrity of the budget process is at risk. We can't let this go unnoticed or unchallenged. The next Steps—whether through public rallies, legal avenues, or media—are about making sure those responsible are held accountable. Let's continue to speak out and demand the truth because the people deserve nothing less.
