Tourner — to turn 🩰
One of the 7 fundamental movements in dance is Tourner, which means to turn.
Every pirouette, soutenu, chaîné, or even a simple half-turn begins with the same idea — controlling the body around its axis while maintaining balance, alignment, and focus.
In class, students are not just “spinning.” They are learning: ✨ coordination of arms and head (spotting)
✨ core strength and placement
✨ control of speed and momentum
✨ confidence in movement
Turns teach dancers how to organize the whole body as one unit. When the placement is correct, the turn becomes effortless — not forced.
So the next time you see your child practicing a turn again and again, remember:
they are building discipline, awareness, and control that goes far beyond the studio.

🎉 I earned the emerging talent badge this week, recognising me for creating engaging content that sparks an interest among my fans!
Elancer means to dart or to shoot quickly through space.
It is one of the 7 movements of dancing.
In the video, the steps demonstrated by the students clearly show the elancé or darting quality—quick, energetic actions that travel with purpose and clarity.
✨ Examples of steps with elancé action:
• Assemblé
• Sissonne
• Brisé
These steps highlight speed, lightness, and precision—training dancers to move with sharp intention while maintaining control and musicality. 💫

SAUTER — to jump 🩰✨
Sauter means to jump and is one of the 7 basic movements of dancing.
Any time a dancer leaves the floor — big or small — they are using sauter.
Learning how to jump properly helps children develop: • strength and coordination
• safe landings that protect growing bodies
• balance, control, and confidence
In this video, we share the 7 Movements of Dancing, the building blocks of all dance styles: Plier, Étendre, Relever, Glisser, Sauter, Tourner, Élancer
When students understand these basics, dancing becomes easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
✨ Strong foundations create confident dancers.
Glisser comes from the French word meaning to glide.
It is one of the seven basic movements in dance, describing a smooth, flowing action where the feet slide close to the floor.
Glisser emphasizes control, continuity, and grace, creating the feeling of effortlessly moving through space.
Perfect for transitions, musicality, and that quiet kind of elegance dancers love ✨🩰
