Ngayong araw, taos-pusong pagpupugay at pasasalamat ang ipinaaabot ng buong Department of Education sa lahat ng mga ilaw ng tahanan, sa mga nanay at sa lahat ng tumatayong ina na walang sawang nagsasakripisyo, nag-aaruga, at nagbibigay inspirasyon para sa kinabukasan ng bawat bata.

Kayo ang unang g**o ng pagmamahal, kabutihan, at pangarap. Sa inyong bawat yakap, payo, at sakripisyo, hinuhubog ninyo ang mas malakas at mas mabuting mga kabataan. ❤️

The Department of Education (DepEd) said that more learners are benefiting from its reading and numeracy programs, citing improvements in students’ literacy and mathematical skills across grade levels.

The DepEd is indeed in the right direction. Its reorganization in 2015 paves way to facilitiate the schools to having functional libraries and year 2025 is a significant milestone in the Philippine public school library system. The amount of more or less 360,000 pesos for each of the 4,100+ public schools were the first recipients. Looking forward for another batch utilizing FY 2027 approved funds.

There are fewer school libraries, but only one student group is affected School libraries aren’t compulsory, and this is widening the gap between public and private schools.

Sweden was once considered one of the world’s pioneers of the “digital classroom”. For years, screens progressively replaced textbooks, laptops became standard in schools, and digital learning was promoted as the future of education. But after decades of promoting a full-tech model in classrooms, the country is now stepping back.

Today, Sweden is bringing back textbooks, staffed school libraries and phone-free classrooms following growing concerns from researchers, teachers and policymakers about the long-term effects of a screens-first approach to education.

For researchers like Christina Löfving, the problem is not technology itself, but the lack of clear direction around how it is implemented. Without proper teacher training, stronger curriculum guidance and support grounded in classroom realities, digital learning risks becoming inconsistent and fragmented from one school to another.

Sweden’s experience raises a broader question for education systems worldwide: how can technology support learning without replacing the human foundations of education?
